Hue9 just passed 6K users in 7 months.
Is the graph slowly going down? Yep.
Do I care? Not really.
6,000 people played a little color puzzle I built after work.
I’ll take that fucking win.

Hi. I'm David, backend and iOS dev in A Coruña.
I've shipped a lot of code. Almost none of it has paying users.
So I'm trying something different: building one small product in public, numbers included. Starting from 8 followers and $0.
Mostly so I can't quietly quit.
Away since Friday. Did Claude Code drop another game-changing update, did a new AI model arrive to replace us, or is everyone just pivoting to a new $10k MRR trend while I was gone?
Did I actually miss anything in iOS dev or is it just the usual noise?

Wow, woke up to Hue9 being featured as Indie App of the Week by @createwithswift!
Super grateful for the shoutout. One step closer... your move next, @AppStore! 👀
Indie App of the Week: Hue9 by @davidcafor 🎨
Sudoku played with nine colors instead of numbers. Symbol Mode pairs each hue with a shape, and VoiceOver describes every cell, so anyone can play.

Remember when people were paying $100K for a JPEG of a bored monkey?
The good old days of the internet.

Reviews like this remind me why I put so much heart and effort into building Hue9.
Knowing that something you created can genuinely touch someone makes it all worth it.
You can’t really control if an app works or not, but you can definitely control how you deal with it.
Right now everything is super oversaturated with AI. Devs are launching an app every 3 days and if it doesn't make money in 5 days, they just move to the next one.
I feel AI gives us two options: you either build like a factory pumping apps daily, or you use that extra time to care about the small details that actually make the difference.
There's thousands of note apps out there, but for example my friend @chocotuits made one recently that really stands out because it's original and super well crafted (I love so much the icon).
And if a project fails, you don't need to throw it to the trash bin. Pass it to another dev who can give it a new point of view, or give it to someone who's learning. No need to wipe it out from the world.
life advice: don’t marry your app
i spend a whole month doing marketing for a new app i made and if it doesn’t work it’s bc it’s not good
users/viewers are the ones who will decide if your app is sh*t. post as many times as you can, try different formats…
don’t overthink it. you also need to know when to STOP
almost no one talks about failing, just a few. and when i do, i say it and i acknowledge it
you gotta stay humble and real or you’re not ngmi
and if it doesn’t work, move on to the NEXT ONE
Hands down this Baronfig Squire rollerball pen from @sketch. I must have had it for 3-4 years now (already replaced the refill twice). Still my go-to for daily notes and sketching!
Before Stack Overflow. Before GitHub. Before AI.
There was Margaret Hamilton.
She led the team that wrote the software that helped put humans on the Moon.
She didn’t just help make history. She helped define software engineering as we know it.
Rest in peace, legend.
Mostly improving the skills I use with my agents. I’m actually about to release one focused on Apple’s HIG.
Every commit I make on iOS gets automatically adapted to the Android version. Two fully native apps, one commit.
And testing? Something I always hated. Now I love it.

Where has AI actually held up in your mobile work so far, UI or the platform code?

I have zero clue how Claude works. Switched over from Codex yesterday, got my Skills installed, and created a project in the sidebar.
But ask it one thing and it opens a Thread. In the Thread, Skills don't work. Then it tells me to open a Session on my Mac for Skills and Xcode access.
Now I’m sitting here with a Project, a Thread, and a Session. WTF is going on?? Codex was way simpler.
Thanks so much for sharing, Paul.
I'm pleased to announce v2.0 of my SwiftUI Pro agent skill! It's packed with improvements based on real-world testing of iOS 27 and iPhone Duo, and also integrates a variety of advice from Apple's own skills. Get it here: github.com/twostraws/swiftui…
