xtralab has been my daily driver for software development for the past few months.
It’s JupyterLab with opinionated defaults and pre-installed extensions for working with coding agents. I use it with Claude Code, Codex, and Pi most of the time.

AnyIO v4.15.0 is out 🚀
A ton of new features in this release:
- amap, gather, and as_completed functions to help manage task concurrency.
- a Future that mimics asyncio's.
With TaskHandle that allows awaiting the return value of a task, there is no reason to use asyncio anymore.
With JupyterLite deployments like notebook.link we need to have more code running in the browser. WASM already allows running kernels like Python, R, C++, Fortran... but we still need to go through the browser for remote access.
Today I'm starting with ipygeotiff, a Python bridge to the geotiff.js library that allows fetching COGs on the web:

Conda packages can have extras now.
Optional dependency groups you declare and then consume, via v3 repodata. Plus when conditions and variant flags.
This should also be available on conda-forge in the near future!

Recently I have been working on an opinionated JupyterLab metapackage for coding agents, called xtralab.
It's JupyterLab with a set of extra extensions and curated defaults tailored for agentic workflows.
If folks are interested, I may do a more in-depth video walkthrough soon!

AnyIO v4.14.0 has just been released!
Among (a lot of) other things, it's now possible to await a task to get its return value.
