Check out this awesome new Nature paper from Jason's lab! The paper shows how inflammation can alter epigenome and lead to cancer.
Jason is one of my co-founders at our new company, Switchpoint Bio, where we are developing new ways to profile immune system and epigenome.
It’s well known that inflammation increases cancer risk, but how?
The answer: the epigenome "remembers" inflammation and primes stem cells for cancer.

Sad news about likely the best neurosurgeon of all time, a true artist who helped thousands and thousands of people.
Yesterday we lost one of the greatest cerebrovascular neurosurgeons of our time.
Juha - as we used to call him - leaves behind an exceptional legacy filled with passion, devotion & bravery.

It has been such a great journey with @BpGenetics/@QuestDX, and I am extremely happy about the world-class teams we were able to build there, and all the positive impact that those teams have had on diagnosing rare diseases. I learned so much, and gained so many lifelong friends!
Already a couple of years ago, I thought that if I would go for a new round of renewing myself, I'd like to do it within the mental health space, and @meruhealth felt like perfect fit!

Logging can easily be the most expensive part of your cloud infrastructure, I have some cautionary tales too, but maybe the world is not ready for them yet 😅
AWS: (another) cautionary tale.. Several years ago I absent mindedly clicked the "turn on logs" button on the s3 bucket for #iGenomes, not really knowing what I was doing. I promptly forgot about it.
Skip forward 6 years and the bucket root suddenly had 61 million files 😱
Aika samoilla linjoilla. Tohtoreille on todella paljon töitä tarjolla. Perinteiset kokemus, taidot, verkostot, onni jne. ratkaisee. Tutkinto vain osa pakettia. Yhtä huonosti voisin yleistää omaa tilannettani "tohtoreille valtavasti hyväpalkkaisia töitä tarjolla".
Iltapäivän ratoksi pohdiskelin hallituksen muodostamista analyyttisestä näkökulmasta.
Kävin laskennallisesti läpi kaikki 253 eri vaihtoehtoa enemmistöhallituksen muodostamiselle ja lopputulos on selvä!

Orpon vaihtoehdot ovat siis vähissä, ja SDP erinomaisessa neuvotteluasemassa. Kiinnostavat kysymykset ovatkin että minkälaiseen siltaan Marin vielä vääntää Orpon, ja että mitkä puolueet valitaan mukaan apupuolueiksi. Todennäköinen hallituskokoonpano lienee 105-115 paikkainen.
Vielä kertauksena, PS:n lisäksi nykytiedon valossa ei ole olemassa hallitusvaihtoehtoa jossa mukana olisivat Keskusta tai Vasemmistoliitto.
Vihreiden osalta tilanne mielenkiintoinen, haluavatko nykykannatuksella hallitukseen. RKP, KD ja Liike Nyt ovat yllättävän vahvoilla!
