What a week in crypto! From the ECB bringing central bank money to tokenized finance to Binance betting $100M on Circle and BlackRock taking portfolios onchain, institutions kept reshaping digital finance this week 🏦
🇪🇺 The @ECB launches Pontes, letting banks settle wholesale tokenized asset transactions in central bank money. Santander, Deutsche Bank, Société Générale and Cecabank are among the first participants, with full rollout expected by 2028.
💵 @Binance invests $100M in @Circle as part of a five-year deal to expand USDC, with a focus on emerging markets. Binance bought Class A shares at a 5% discount, with a lock-up of up to two years.
📊 @BlackRock and @Ondo Finance launch Ondo Intelligent Portfolios, packaging three BlackRock-designed strategies into single tokens on Ethereum and BNB Chain for eligible investors outside the U.S.
𝕏 @X brings trading to the timeline. Its Cashtag Partner Program connects U.S. users with Coinbase, Gemini, Kraken, Interactive Brokers and Moomoo, while X itself does not execute trades or hold assets.
🏆 @Datablocks_app wins the MERGE Startup Contest 2026 among 12 international Web3 projects, with Shellment and Orion Finance completing the podium. All three will pitch on the main stage at MERGE Madrid.

After being selected as one of the 12 finalist startups, @Datablocks_App took 1st place in Madrid.
An incredibly competitive final, in front of a jury made up of some of the leading investors, founders and operators in Spain’s crypto and Web3 ecosystem.
A big milestone for us after months of building, iterating and learning at Lanzadera, and a meaningful recognition of the work we’re doing with onchain data on @base to help traders make better decisions.
It was an honour to receive the award from @MLopezValverde and to be part of an event supported by @ComunidadMadrid, @MadridInnova, @MADRID and @Tritemius3T.
Huge thanks to the @mmerge_io team, the jury and everyone who has supported us along the way.

¡Qué gran jornada de talento e innovación vivimos ayer en el Startup Contest de Digitaliza Madrid! 🚀
Arrancamos el evento con las palabras de bienvenida de Paula Pascual, CEO de MERGE, y de Ignacio Azorín, Digital Strategy Director en @ComunidadMadrid. Tras esta apertura, el escenario fue de las startups. Disfrutamos de unos pitches de altísimo nivel donde conocimos las propuestas de las startups participantes.
Durante la tarde, el evento continuó con una sesión de networking y paneles donde pudimos seguir conectando ideas y debatiendo sobre el ecosistema tecnológico.
