Just a photo for Twitter. Let me show you what’s actually behind it… Every time I post a photo from a conference, I get two kinds of reactions. Some people cheer me on. Others are basically like: must be nice, another trip, another selfie 😅 Here’s what actually went into that photo of @Dashpay Water Station at @CoinfestAsia in Bali 💪🏻 1️⃣ Getting the deal - Found the right contact and got on a call - Explained what Dash actually is: L1, payments, L2 for decentralized data and a DAO that puts most of its funds into developers, not marketing - We couldn’t afford a full booth, so I came up with something smaller: a branded water station. High visibility, real utility in 30+ degree heat - Standard price was 5k. I negotiated it down to 2k $ 2️⃣ Making it happen - Wrote the DAO proposal and got it through a vote - Created the concept and worked with a designer to bring the branding to life - A friend printed custom Dash: Staying Alive shirts for standing in the heat next to a water station - Printed flyers in Vietnam to save money and carried them with me. Not another generic what is Dash flyer, but how to actually use Dash in Asia through our new @QRwallet_X integration - Flew to Indonesia - I always save on transport and accommodation by sharing with Web3 friends and colleagues 3️⃣ On the ground - That same friend covered the booth whenever I stepped away to speak. She knows Dash by now, and which contacts are worth not letting walk away - Restocked flyers as they ran out - No photographer was assigned to us, so I found one traveling with a partner team and convinced them to shoot our booth - Walked the conference floor, collected contacts, including several local Indonesian exchanges we’re now talking to - Hit side events too. Sometimes I met people there first, explained Dash, and they’d come find the station already knowing us. Other times they saw the station first, then ran into me later, and I’d go deeper. You need more than one touchpoint for people to remember a project as layered as Dash 4️⃣ Judging the pitch competition This was a separate side event. They sent a taxi to the airport so I wouldn’t miss it. I’d helped select the founders and wrote the judging criteria. During the judging, I asked my friend, a brilliant CTO, to represent Dash as our technical expert. Real technical evaluation matters for pitch competitions. And this still doesn’t include me speaking on the main stage and preparing for the panel discussion. I covered that part in my previous post. That’s what’s behind one photo.
