Most people have arguments in bad faith One or both parties will continuously misdirect from the relevant premise Sometimes deliberately, sometimes as a reflexive attempt to “win” Or one will intentionally try and confuse the other through obfuscation Being sharp enough to recognize what’s going on is frustrating because you require cooperation from the other side to get back on track I return to the ancient concept of having to adequately state your opponents position before dismantling it But if the argument is clearly going nowhere try and have fun with it Maybe see if you can mess with them You’re now in a battle of frames
