Space Bunny is here!
Congrats to @MiniMax_AI on the launch of MiniMax M3.1 Flash 🚀
It’s the best open-weights model on @ArtificialAnlys’ AutomationBench, and it costs a fraction of what closed models charge per task.
Open models keep getting better and cheaper.
The weights drop on Oct 23, live on Featherless the same day:

MiniMax M3.1 Flash: Space Performance + Bunny Speed
🚀🐰 Yes, Space Bunny - which has topped global leaderboards with 200T+ tokens - was an earlier version of M3.1 Flash.
💰Redefining the performance economics of agentic AI. M3.1 Flash achieves frontier-level intelligence across key tasks such as Cowork (Automation-Bench: 62%; ALE: 30%), Coding (DeepSWE: 74%) and Visual Reasoning (BabyVision: 91%), at 1/3 the cost of M3 and 3x the speed.
API pricing (flat rate): $0.15 / $0.60 per 1M input/output tokens, with cache reads at $0.015 / 1M tokens.
Model weights will arrive on Oct 23.
API: platform.minimax.io
M Plan: minimax.io/m-plan
MiniMax Code for desktop: agent.minimax.io/download
Excited to see if MiniMax has cooked and for the weights to drop!

Great to see Step 5 Preview live on @FeatherlessAI!
Frontier-level intelligence, competitive cost efficiency, and easier access for developers.
Step 5 Preview is here.
@StepFun_ai's new open-weights model sets a new Pareto frontier, matching Kimi K3 on the @ArtificialAnlys Intelligence Index!
It’s built for long-horizon agent work, with frontier-level results on software engineering and professional knowledge work, especially finance.
- 600B sparse MoE, 27B active per token
- ~1/6 the cost per task of Claude Opus 5.5, per Artificial Analysis
Now on Featherless, served at FP8.

Introducing Step 5 Preview by @StepFun_ai
To demo, I ported a video game, and used Step 5 Preview to port the entire codebase to typescript, live in the browser (and your timeline!)
Thank you to StepFun for letting us build with it early. Now the weights are open, and you can run it on Featherless.

Jev Hack/Demo Night in SF was a packed room!
What got demoed:
- @Richelle_Ji (Featherless) ranked ~2,000 SF Tech Week events with Simple Jev on open models
- @not_simantak (@Tiny_Fish) ran a web agent on Jev-style decisions
- Dennis Chen (@interfaze_ai) showed Lev, an open 4B decision model
- Dev Shah (@resembleai) detected AI agents and deepfaked voices in real time
Plus a round of community lightning demos of Jev variants built on open models.
Huge thanks to our hosts @NehallAgrawal @Yunsu_Tang @divyalath12 and everyone who showed up on a Friday night.
Birds of a feather!
something something just a JSON classifier but on Featherless?
Melee meets Jev, but running on Featherless!
We actually have our own classifier endpoint -- here it's Gemma 4 reading the game and making a decision every half-second.
I wired up Gemma into libmelee so it continuously can read the game state and gave it basic instructions to approach and attack.
So far, Fox is doing pretty decent against CPU level 3.
Extremely fast and cheap rapid decision making is the future. (Actually it's old tech everyone's rediscovering, but I digress)
What should we point the classifier to next? If you're interested in this endpoint, let us know!

Kunnen we alsjeblieft stoppen met Jeroen Baert als AI expert voor te schuiven op nationale TV. Genoeg belgisch AI talent om een deftige uitleg te geven ipv een weetjesexpert.

The bigger implication should be killing enterprises or anyone in research - not just in AI
Working on something novel? They have no qualms on snooping into your chat logs
And taking credit in publishing your work (or worse commercialise it?)
wtf is this way to handle mathematicians work and scientific communication
TLDR: Leven and Tristan worked over several months on one of the Millenium Prize Problems with various AIs to reach final interesting results. OpenAI apparently heard about it in the last days and prompted their latest models to work on the direction Leven and Tristan found fruitful. They then tried to push for controlling communication of the result and dropping Leven from authorship with some very bad taste social pressure.
Hope this is not a glimpse of the future we’ll get in science research with these dominating players playing marketing games hurtful for the real scientific community.
Go and watch @Aizkmusic play games on the job
Just how capable are open source models?
Below is the first in a new series where we go behind the scenes and pull back the curtain on interesting AI research / demos, making them fun and easy to understand.
Here, we have a short visual demonstration from @aizkmusic showcasing how Kimi K3 (a language model that operates primarily through text) is capable of building complicated 3D structures / moments in history in Minecraft, something that previously was not possible with other open source models, and why this matters.
The crazy part? The model doesn't "see" the game like we do. The LLMs must reason in pure text, writing JavaScript, that later compiles down into commands placing each block, one at a time. Spatial reasoning is a very hard problem in AI, it's the same core challenge behind robotics and self-driving cars, where a model has to understand and act in physical 3D space. Watching a text model pull it off is nothing short of a miracle.
The point isn't just Minecraft itself, rather, it's AI being able to generalize, not memorize, on things that are weird and beyond their training data. This is key to building true artificial general intelligence.
These video game benchmarks (there are many different games actively being researched right now) provide a clear-cut end goal, challenges that are almost certainly not in the training set, and a fun, very fast, visual way to almost feel the increasing capabilities of various open source AI models over time.
If you haven't given open source models a serious try yet, watch the video, it may shock you!

Intelligence too cheap to meter.
We figured out how to serve GLM 5.2 at <$0.1/M tokens at scale; 1,482 tok/s with just 4xMi325x.
3x cheaper then B300's,
10x cheaper then Opus,
All with dedicated @AMD GPU's

No API lock-in.
No government export controls telling you what you can and can't do.
Don't sleep on open source models.

Introducing KeyValueMeans
Our new AI architecture, for choosing between
- Fixed Cost Recurrent State: ie. RWKV, GDN, Mamba
- Quadratic Cost Scaling State: Attention
- & a middle ground in between...
What if Transformer attention, could expand on demand, instead of every token?

Today we're announcing our $20 M Series A, co-led by @AMDVentures and @AirbusVentures, with @BMWiVentures, @Kickstartph, @PanacheVC, and @Wavemaker_VC.
We're building the neutral layer for open models — so the future doesn't run on a few labs, a few chips, or a few clouds.
THE FUTURE CAN’T BE BLOCKED.
Any Model. Anywhere. Anyone. Yours.
