It won’t be long til the end of the #1001AlbumsGenerator project. Here’s the breakdown of my penultimate check-in, from #901 to #1000.

I was expecting Queen’s A Night At The Opera to move me more than it did, my heart wanted to award it more but it was only worth a 3. Similar disappointment with The Cure’s Disintegration and Nick Drake’s Pink Moon, whose other albums I’ve adored.

That’s it for now. I’m on the journey through the final 89 before I reach the end. I’m already sad.

Another 15 weeks have passed; time now for #801 - #900 on the #1001AlbumsGenerator. Straight up I have to mention the album Nowhere by Ride. Its opening track, Seagull, was a surf rock masterpiece with an incredible outro, a 5ā˜… song right off the bat.

I was surprised to not enjoy either of Tim Buckley’s offerings on the list. ā€œMannered intensityā€ was the best phrase I could find to describe him. At this stage I’m sick of The Smiths / Morrissey. I wanted to like Cheap Trick’s At Budokan but it turned out boring in the end.

I’m nearing the elusive 1001, then it’s the final remaining albums to reach the 1089. Will be back here to X in a few months time for my next report.
