I've been watching the reindustrialize movement and trying to break out of the typical semi-captive job shop lifestyle.
I've come up with an offering that might fill a niche as designers and engineers build small assemblies.
Configure and buy custom dowel pins online:
Japanese kei truck garden inspired trunk or treat presentation. Parents appreciated. Many dads pointed out the obviously utility of mini truck ownership.
Added a “Send to your buyer” option so if you are not able to make the payment, you can easily email your configured pins to your purchasing department 👍🏻
Pretty cool to see @davidliuxyz has vans dropping off parts in my neighborhood 👍🏻
How do I get Danny’s Dowel Factory on this list?
The 2026 American Dynamism 50 is here: our annual list of 50 companies, from within the a16z portfolio and beyond, building for America's future.
This year's theme is Production is Deterrence. "America's ability to prevent conflict depends on what it can build, how fast it can deliver, and how long it can keep going."
A new generation of defense companies is moving from prototypes to full-scale production, and the industrial base has to keep pace. This year's list is organized around three pillars:
1. Systems: the drones, ships, missiles, aircraft, and spacecraft that deter conflict.
2. Factories: the plants, tools, and software that build them.
3. Inputs: the materials and power they're made of and run on.
Get all three right, and the impact reaches well beyond defense, to skilled jobs, revitalized communities, and the supply chains behind energy, housing, and everyday goods.

Dear founders and VCs calling your thing “foundry” or “forge:”
Please choose another name unless your thing is an actual foundry or forge.
Sincerely,
American Actual Reindustrialization
Cool example pin config from my watchmaker buddy Zach. Lots of website updates this weekend, people need pins, we make ‘em.

Well look at that, a perfect Titanium clevis pin for one of our custom linkages, with shallow chamfered head and an easy STEP file download to bring it into CAD.
In the future every motion component gets its own perfect pivot hardware
