🚀 Day 1 of #100DaysOfCode I'm levelling up... I’ve never built a real-time app. I’ve never implemented auth properly. I’ve never built a mobile app with React Native. So, I'm fixing that. For the next 100 days I’m building a real-time mobile app from scratch. Let’s go 👇🧵

Day 47 and 48 of #100DaysOfCode Forgot to update yesterday so checking in again today! I've been tinkering away with Vue. Make a simple todo list app to get used to modifying data locally using Vue's features. I also set up the page router yesterday to learn how to navigate SPA's. I think tomorrow I'm going make this full CRUD but with external data via an API.

Day 46 of #100DaysOfCode Finished off the official Vue tutorials from the docs (tinkering along the way, of course!) and started going through the examples to reinforce the concepts. I thought the transition from React to Vue would be really basic but now I'm seeing that there are loads of important differences in how things are done.

Day 45 of #100DaysOfCode More Vue tinkering! I thought I'd start actually reading through the official docs and trying to learn about Vue in their own words, taking my time to mess around in the tutorials, implementing and breaking new features as a learn about them. There's a lot to learn but I'll keep chipping away. I'd like to have a good idea of the main features and required syntax before I start building something proper.

Day 44 of #100DaysOfCode The good weather and house errands got the better of me today so I didn't manage much coding toeday. Instead, I spent the last hour before bed starting the FreeCodeCamp Python course. After a friend expressed an interest in Python I thought I'd take a look and see if I could recommend the course. It's early days (literally a couple of lessons in!) but I'll chip away at it over time and see what I can learn.

Day 43 of #100DaysOfCode More tinkering with Vue. Padded out my first app with some more components using props for the first time. also watched some tutorials to learn the differences with React and Vue. I'm loving seeing how Context, Emit and other things work in Vue!

Day 42 of #100DaysOfCode and I've been tinkering some more with Vue. Getting to know how reactive state, v-bind, props and loops all function together. Still enjoying it, getting excited to build something proper now.

Day 41 of #100DaysOfCode After a long break while I worked on my house, I'm returning to my 100 Days of Code. I want to get familiar with @vuejs so I've been setting up basic projects and playing around to see how it differs from React. It's early days but I lke it!

Day 40 of #100DaysOfCode Just enough time today to get some late night coding in. I wrote new tests for all of my new routes that I created while working on the differerent features. Still need some work but good progress!

Day 39 of #100DaysOfCode Had to skip a day yesterday as I'm rebuilding my floor! Had a couple of hours tonight to refactor my backend and begin a new feature for creating new chat rooms.

Day 38 of #100DaysOfCode Had to skip yesterday as my floor project is taking up my life right now but had a chance to check out Pretext by @_chenglou (thanks Cheng!). I'm just getting started but looking forward to making some inDesign-style newspaper-like layouts!

Day 37 of #100DaysOfCode Updated the UI for navigating through chatooms. Also added search and filter functions for all rooms to get around easier.

Day 36 of #100DaysOfCode Limited time today buit got to work out some bugs and make sure my DMs panels are updating for both users when there's a new DM room (for direct messages) using the sockets. Going to start closing loops so the app is usable.

Day 35 of #100DaysOfCode Took a couple of days off the challenge to work on the house. First pic is my middle room which i've been working on renovating(!) and the second is a new feature in the app for creating new DMs with users.

Day 34 of #100DaysOfCode Big restructuring on my frontend. Grouped files by features and improved folder structure throughout. Took ages! I really should have dialled in my structure before going so deep but it's a good lesson to learn!

Day 33 of #100DaysOfCode Didn't have much time today so thought I'd play with Copilot to see i fit was capable of a complete project restructuring for a laugh... It was not! 😂😂 Look at that Source Control window! 💀 I'll manually restructure tomorrow instead!

Day 32 of #100DaysOfCode Lots done today: improved error handling on forms for editing info and registering. New components & custom hooks for shared functionality, designed a new icon, made new system users and created welcoming DMs and other UX improvements!

Day 31 of #100DaysOfCode Added the user profiles back into the new UI so that they display in the dashboard. Updated a bunch of buttons and improved the styling on my dialogs and modals.

Just realised I forgot to post yesterday so here's day 30 of #100DaysOfCode! I added real-time message notifications with unread counters for the different rooms and DMs and even included a little notification sound to alert you. Also improved the DMs UI. More to come later!

Day 29 Dialled in both the UI and DB: First I sketched what I wanted the dashboard to look like in Figma, then I added a new dashboard grid with new components to show new Rooms and Messages DB tables, and created a new seed file to add lots of data to make all feel alive!

Day 28 of #100DaysOfCode I added the ability to edit user bios and upload images to a Supabase bucket. Also added a avatar status badges, dialogs and modals, a presence system that broadcasts online status to all users, and more!
