Terminal A EWR is absolute trash. 1 hr from touchdown to getting bags. Takes longer to get through security each time than Terminal C. Ubers take longer always. Am I the only one experiencing this? It’s made my travel experience worse, not better @united #terminala #ewr

Publicists: If a writer is charging for their leads on Substack, they are not ethical journalists. Do not pay. Do not work with them. You’d better serve your client by using that money to buy an ad, bc at least that would be guaranteed coverage. #prtips

The expectations have gotten out of control & are unethical. Would you agree to review or even write a Yelp review of a restaurant you’ve never tried? I get that these trips need to produce results for them, but there’s a reason it’s called *earned media* and not *paid media*.

sometimes press trips truly have unrealistic coverage expectations. This is the reason why I prefer to do my own thing as much as I can. Takes the pressure off! But anyway, fellow freelancers, how many articles do you aim to secure per trip?

I also think it’s our responsibility as journalists to continue to push back and set realistic expectations and boundaries.

That said, when I do go on a trip, my goal is always to get coverage and as much of it makes sense based on different angles.

It’s happening more and more but in the end they’re burning bridges both for their agencies & clients. The other day I was then re-invited to one my outlets weren’t good enough for when another journo dropped out. Insulting, + just bad all around.

Media layoffs are the worse. Unfortunately, they're also the norm because the industry *still* cannot figure out how to make money in an environment where they've trained everyone to expect information, articles, and other journalistic efforts for free.

It’s crazy that 15 years ago you couldnt drive down 28th 27th 26th etc street between 10/11 avenues etc. honking, unbelievable traffic, Lohan, bottles cracking, huge clubs— at 3:3O AM your cab would get stuck , on a WEDNESDAY night —whatever — and now it’s dead quiet over there
