A generation walking by sight. A church that doesn't know its Bible. Hatred for Israel is rising and almost none of the comments cite scripture.
Get back in your Bible.
You can't discipline yourself into devotion. But devotion will discipline you. New on the blog: danielknorris.com/you-cant-d…
You can't discipline yourself into devotion. But find something worth being devoted to, and the discipline starts to make sense. 5 leadership lessons from Sunday 👇
You pull out your phone because you're bored… and an hour is gone. That's not just a habit. That's an appetite without a governor. 🎥
Gluttony is an appetite without a governor. Another bite. Another scroll. Another purchase. At some point you're not governing your appetite. Your appetite is governing you. (Genesis 25:29-34, ESV)
We often mistake our pain for hunger. Whether it's past trauma, loneliness, or shame, we try to medicate the ache with things that never actually heal it. Real progress starts when we identify the root, not the symptom.

And yet I’m seeing the greatest uptick in Gen Z at our church…
Generosity is the antidote to greed. When you give, you loosen greed's grip on your heart. Challenge yourself to give, especially when you feel resistance. True freedom is found in letting go.

The Bible makes it clear that God has given governing authorities the responsibility to uphold the law and administer justice.
Capital punishment is a just consequence for those who intentionally take an innocent life. Carrying out that judgment is not only a matter of justice for the victims but also a responsibility to protect society.
That said, I have no desire to see executions become public spectacles. There is a difference between believing justice should be carried out and taking pleasure in watching it happen.
I want to know that justice has been served. I have no need to witness it being carried out.
Has he actually read the Bible?
The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption. #NoDeathPenalty
1000 times yes… but it will always be Jerry’s show
"Jerry will overpay top of the market for players, a yacht, a stadium, a practice facility, and go cheap on the coach. It's like hosting a party in a mansion and going: Who's doing the catering? ... We called Subway"
@colincowherd says it's time for Dallas to pay up for a coach
The premier of Season 2 of Marshals on CBS was the worst written in the history of television 🤦🏻♂️
Seriously was this written by ChatGPT
Taylor Sheridan’s future corpse rolled over in his grave as his Yellowstone legacy became a dumpster fire 🔥
I confess… I too have been known to climb a ladder or two in a sermon.😜

I’ll never understand Christians who spend more time bickering with fellow believers and nitpicking Bible teachers than they do waging war on the demonic.
Couldn’t be me.
Whatever, I’m locked in. Back to work.

The internet is roasting @howertonjosh for a ladder sermon illustration. Wait till they find out God did it first (Genesis 28:12) and Jesus brought it back (John 1:51).
Ladder illustrations run in the family.

If you don't like "object lessons" used to teach spiritual truths, you're going to hate the Bible...
- Mustard seed (Jesus)
- Setting a child in front of people (Jesus)
- Holding up a coin (Jesus)
- Using a fig tree (Jesus)
- Writing in dirt (Jesus)
- Making mud and using it on a man's eyes (Jesus... although this is a mindblowing Genesis 2 redux illustrating Jesus = God)
- Breaking bread + holding up a wine goblet (Jesus)
- Tearing a cloak in 12 pieces (Ahijah)
- Walking naked and barefoot for 3 years (Isaiah... but I'm not doing this one anytime soon)
- Smashing a clay jar in front of listeners (Jeremiah)
- Wearing a wooden yoke (Jeremiah)
- Joining 2 sticks into 1 in front of hearers (Ezekiel)
- Using rope to bind your hands and feet in front of hearers (Agabus)
- Making a rainbow (God... also, this was cool and not gay)
- Smearing blood on house doorposts (God)
- Lifting up a metal snake (God)
There's a way to use "object lessons" that are more distracting and kitsch than illustrative... but there's also a way to do it so that it sticks in the hearer's soul.
Also, I do not own a single pair of skinny jeans, but I am cursed with one pair of Howerton legs that turn straight leg jeans into 'skinny jeans' (let the reader understand :)
TO THE CREATORS, NOT THE CRITICS.
To all the genuine creators and original thinkers, keep digging deep. Keep bringing fresh insights. Keep challenging the status quo.
Ignore the online critics, the Monday morning quarterbacks, and the keyboard warriors who feast on your content only to turn around and “respond” to it, “discern” it, or “judge” it.
They’ve mastered the art of regurgitating what someone else had the courage to create.
They’re feasting on the crumbs while missing the meat of the meal.
Social media has created a strange ecosystem. The barrier to entry has never been lower. Anyone can have a platform, an opinion, and an audience. But having something to say is not the same as having something worth saying.
Fresh revelation still belongs to those willing to do the hard work. Those willing to dig deeper, think longer, and get lost in the silence and solitude of the secret place.
It’s easy to critique what someone else has created. It’s another thing entirely to pay the price to produce something original.
So, to the creators, the thinkers, the writers, and the voices who are doing the hard work: KEEP GOING.
I’m learning from you. You’re challenging me. You’re making me stronger.
Keep your head up. Don’t give in. Don’t shrink back.
GET BOLDER. DIG DEEPER. KEEP CREATING.
The world doesn’t need another echo. It needs voices that have something to say.

With my whole soul I believe this is what God is doing in the American church in our generation:
"There are Word churches and there are Spirit churches. There has been a great divorce in the church – between word and spirit. And like any divorce some kids go with the mom and some kids go with the dad.
Revival happens when you bring those two back together.”
