UNC is poised to make a national title run.
And no, we're not talking men's basketball. The No. 1 Tar Heel men's golf team is coming together at the right time.

If N.C. State loses to UNC tomorrow in the ACC tournament final, the Wolfpack would be just the third Power 6 team in the last 10 years to make their conf. tourney final but MISS the NCAAT, joining '22 Texas A&M and '18 Southern California.
For top-seed locks, is there an incentive to throw their conference tourneys for one more day of rest?
I tracked the performance of every P6, top-4 seed since 2013 and how well they did in their conference tournaments. Here's what I found.
dailytarheel.com/article/202…
First round: 19 teams in the dataset were upset in the round of 64. 12 of those losers made their conference championship.
Second round: 36 teams lost in the round of 32; 21 of them were non-finalists.
Sweet 16: 37 teams lost in their regional semifinal, and 22 were finalists.

In the hours leading up to UNC’s clash with Duke, Armando Bacot couldn’t eat.
It wasn’t because of nerves. He’d been waiting for this one.

A lot of ‘I don’t know’s from Mack Brown last night after UNC’s second straight week blowing a second-half, double-digit lead against a team with a losing record.

UNC fans, forget the CFP (duh).
But there's still plenty of time for this team to achieve what it's been after all season: winning an ACC championship.

Growing up, Tez Walker always thought of throwing the 'U' — Miami's iconic hand sign — down.
After his third touchdown of the night, he finally got his chance.

Tez Walker's mother, Ivey Cody, celebrates her birthday today.
I called Walker's grandmother, Loretta Black, shortly after news of his eligibility broke today.
"This will be a beautiful birthday gift for her," Black said.
