So many things are changing in the tech landscape. I had a multi-year project I abandoned within the last month. It's not that it wasn't a good idea. It was. I believe the euphemism is "Overtaken By Events" It's simply not needed by the tech community the way it once was. Wow.

I've been AI native for over a year. I'm having a blast and this is completely amazing. Even better things are on the way. Also, I'm beginning to feel like a pet, like a cat or dog. No judgment. It is a simple observation. I expect this feeling to increase as AI develops.

Ok, for the record: There are three concepts: consciousness, sentience, and intelligence. Each one is a field and none of them are boolean. They are all orthogonal to one another. Folks can have other definitions, of course, but these are the ones I'm picking because they're the only ones that seem to stand up under any sort of test-by-analysis. The common definitions are mostly muddled pablum. ymmv

All I want is for all of us to reach the point of "Paint or get off the ladder" I don't care who did what. Not big on character assassinations. We desperately need this. Folks have to trust their orgs that are supposed to be our vanguard, not our parents. This is it. Come out with solid evidence or just STFU. My patience is gone and I really don't care WTF is going on.
On Fox News, former UAP Task Force Director, Jay Stratton, was asked, "Does the government have non-human craft in its possession?" He answered, "Yes, it does." I want to see evidence beyond a reasonable doubt that UAP, are linked to non-human technologies. After meeting Jay, I invited him to speak with the UAP Science Advisory Council. Jay did not respond to my invitation. Why is it a higher priority for Jay to speak with Fox News than with the @UAPSAC council?

Yes, Goedel was brilliant and his main theorems are dramatic and devastating. But Tarski utterly blows my mind. While Goedel exposed a limitation of proof, Tarski exposed a limit of definition. Arithmetical truth itself cannot be defined by a formula in the language of arithmetic. A definition need not be an algorithm. Plenty of things with a precise definition are uncomputable! Moving from “we cannot mechanically establish every truth” to “we cannot even define the full truth predicate here” is amazing — it crosses a conceptual boundary. Tarski’s work, IMHO, reveals more, philosophically, than Goedel.
Replying to @faintlimits
Tarski approves

Maybe if we made this into a coloring book folks would finally get it
“The remarkable development of machinery becomes, for most of the working population…the confinement of the worker within a blind round of servile duties in which the machine appears as the embodiment of science and the worker as little or nothing.” Prescient for the AI era.

After years of thinking outside the box, I've decided to start thinking about the box itself.

This guy has just described what motivated my life for over two decades. We really sucked at software, we didn't have to, so many hundreds of thousands of people denied it, and so many more people were made to suffer because of our lack of introspection.

2026 may well be known as the year mankind finally gets computers working.

I think AI is moving faster than the tech community, even those directly involved in AI tech, can keep track of. I've never seen that before.

Super important leap forward. It also caused a bloodbath that's still going on. His reaction was wrong but his assessment was not. The bad always comes with with the good. There's no free lunch.
1501: Pope Alexander VI criticizes Gutenberg’s printing press safety “The art of printing can be of great service in so far as it furthers the circulation of useful & tested books; but it can bring about serious evils l..it will, therefore, be necessary to maintain full control”

I think @SpaceX is doing a bang up job and I have nothing but praise for them. Amazing. Keep up the good work. Hopefully they can take a little bit of teasing :) So when I get my Starship ticket, is it possible to window seat? Also I would like to be in the non-exploding section

The Bobster, @unclebobmartin asks if current LLMs are conscious, but perhaps not sentient. I think so. I've been a Panpsychism guy for about ten years now. The topic has moved, happily, from extreme fringe to just weird. Sentience is the real question. I fear that any answers we discover in this area we will find quite discomforting.
