Never cut out to be a No.3 in football, cricket or rugby. In my head I’m managing #drfc

Been asked quite a lot for my thoughts on the #drfc situation after the last couple of Saturdays
My thoughts on football changed during the O’Driscoll era. Appreciate mine is an alternative view but I don’t judge it week by week. I try to stay calm and level. Let it all unfold
There will be lots of different opinions and not going to get drawn into lengthy debates. But wanted to share my support as #drfc always needs it more in the tough times
Everybody hurts but we need calm, not chaos. It’s a long season. We’ve bounced back before and we will again
I’ve seen an awful lot over the years. The MK Dons was exactly 34 years to the day to my first game - we lost then as well!
For me it’s about feeling connected to the club. GMcC has done that over 2 spells and I feel he deserves our trust, support and backing as a result #drfc

It’s that time of the year again… #drfc
Strange game - thought Notts County were better in the first half but we got in 1-0 up, then conceded straight after they made subs 🤦🏼♂️
Plenty of endeavour but really struggled for quality unless Gotts found some space. Not sure we did enough to win it, another even game #drfc
Some great last ditch defensive blocks, Hutchinson took up some good positions and Hanlan offered plenty in an unfamiliar role off the left.
But ultimately a game that sums up the teams’ positions; Notts County have some momentum, we’re searching for a bit of inspiration #drfc
What a great interview @RobbieAndrews8
Love the ‘surrender the me for the we’ line. Jack really gets what #drfc is all about and what we want to see. One of the first names on the teamsheet. Puts everything into every game and has a desire to improve. That’s all we ask for 🙌🏻
🗣️ “Think it was probably a game of two halves really. We knew what they were about. We had a game plan and it wasn’t working too well”

Promised myself not to get too drawn into immediate reaction but…
1. It’s far too early in the season to judge anything
2. We were always going to be a work in progress
3. It’s a game we’d have lost last season - maybe even 2 weeks ago. Progress takes different forms #drfc
It’s ultimately a battling point in terrible conditions against a side that made the play-offs last season in a game where the first goal appeared to be crucial. Wouldn’t be filing it under ‘end of the world’ #drfc
Can take a lot from last night’s game against a very good Boro side. Grehan, Robinson, McCann and Hutchinson all took their opportunities to give plenty of food for thought.
Their quality came through ultimately, and great support, but we gave them a good game #drfc
Possibly the biggest dilemma though is the goalkeeper - how good was Clarke? Great to see lots of young players thriving and taking their opportunity when presented #drfc
Downside was the injury to Sterry but wonder if this will now give Grehan a chance to stake his claim with the injury situation. Capable deputy last season; like his calmness, long throw and instincts.
If not, got to be pushing for a place at centre half generally, surely #drfc
Typical early season game, we created the best couple of chances but they should have capitalised on the errors. We’ll take a while to gel.
That Byrne was the standout against a team lacking strikers probably told the tale of the game. Fair result #drfc
Overall Mansfield edged it but not a lot in it. Both this season and last could easily have been 1-1.
Always going to be a work in progress in the final third. Interesting to start 3-4-3; arguably had 5 wide options on the bench by opting for a shape that sacrifices width #drfc
There’s so much emphasis on the first game but the reality is that a season takes shape between 10 & 15 games. It never changes!
Felt the balance of play shifted again once Gotts had gone off, and the bench only gave one like for like option. The dynamic didn’t quite work #drfc
Really encouraging start - lots to work with, lots to work on, thought we contained a good side well and showed glimpses on the break. It’s naturally a work in progress
We looked a lot more ‘League One streetwise’, for want of a better expression. Having May is a huge plus #drfc
There was decent depth on the bench, and that’s with 5 players unavailable. Attacking options who started plenty of games last season
You’re never going to get me making big predictions but we have the tools to keep improving and progressing, and maybe some funds for Jan #drfc
