Ok folks. It’s time we talked about eels.
I’m a geologist but I recently learnt about eels and… wow.
Since then, I’ve been greeting strangers with ‘DO YOU KNOW ABOUT EELS?!’
Well, consider yourself a stranger in my path.

An idea for reducing peak demand: give households inverters and batteries. Batteries can be charged at night and set to power the house during peak hours. Cost of hardware could be less than the current max PV grant. Panels can be added later if desired. irishtimes.com/politics/oire…

There's a butterfly sleeping in my office (left). It seems innocent enough, but when I wasnt looking it chewed through my ethernet cable (right). Beware - the pollinators are coming to wreak a terrible revenge.
The whole 'switch energy provider' scene is another massive grift; you may compare elec rates and pick the best, then sign up to 12 month contract, but the contract only applies to the 'discount', not the unit rate. Get 33% off - then after you sign, actual unit rate goes up 40%.

Replying to @RichardJMurphy
The top 36 companies paid out 178% of their profits on average. The next 36 or so paid out less: they only rewarded their shareholders with 88% of the profits earned. Together these companies represented 60% of the market value of the companies surveyed and 56% of all sales.
