Has a similar ban been enforced on other known cheaters already as well? Because there is footage of at least 3 other people cheating on stream.
I'm all for player bans, but hopefully it isn't only made a big deal if the person involved is a public figure in the space.
‼ Riot Games has made a statement regarding Koko Lopez and has banned him from all sanctioned Riftbound tournaments and events until January 1st 2029! ‼
"Following an investigation into an incident at the Riftbound Regional Qualifier Los Angeles on September 26, 2026, Riot Games determined that Koko Lopez intentionally stacked his rune deck to gain a competitive advantage. Riot Games determined that this conduct constituted cheating under the Riftbound Tournament Rules."
"As a result, Koko Lopez is suspended from all sanctioned Riftbound tournaments and events, regardless of Organized Play Level, until January 1st, 2029."

I don't recall her name but I'd like to apologize for whatever I did that may have come off that way. Just putting it out. If I did do something wrong I swear it was unintentional. I was really out of it. 😅
Whether I completely agree with how this is being dealt aside, I love the transparency here.
I think there were better ways to go about this and that these half measures have some issues, but I love the Riftbound teams initiative.
I find this counter-intuitive from the Best-Of System. It will also cause meta polarization which Riftbound has until now been very good at going away from with the aforementioned system. I don't feel good about it.

Lands are both now an integral part of MTGs system AND the worst part of the whole game.
Everything else is actual music. The stack, permanent system, spell system. The whole game is incredible EXCEPT for the land syatem. 😂😂😂
There's no way that people ACTUALLY thing the salvageable thing about Magic is the resource system, right?
The resource system in Magic is the TEXTBOOK, SQUARE ONE thing that other games look at and go "How can we improve upon this to remove it from our game?"
There are PLENTY of things to look at Magic for and to go, "Aw, man. This game is sick because of ___ that doesn't convert well in other games"

Currently slowly replaying MH Wilds to prep for Ascendance next year. Whenever I do a full run of a new MH game I choose a new weapon for it and this time its Gunlance.
I haven't played GL since MH3 and this is so vastly improved it's crazy. 😂😂😂
I understand that not all Legends can be uber powerful, but because of the Best Of system I think that there should be a much flatter power gap between the best and worst legends.
The balancing of the Poppy and the Shen level legends is just so bad when they didn't have to be.

I just got laid off by Startpage/System1 today as a Sr Software Engineer.
I am now open and looking for a new opportunity at any company that needs another software engineer. I have vast experience with a lot of parts of the full stack including: Frontend/Backend, Infrastructure (aws, k8s, etc), agentic workflows, and much much more. I care deeply about the software that I build and I hope to have this chance again at another role :)
I will be setting up a fresh resume and my personal site to cast as wide of a net as I possibly can.

Clarification 🧵🧵: My MTG teammate was DQed from a Spotlight for “cheating”. He is one of the most upstanding and honest people I know, he is a judge and uplifts everyone he has met for the last 15 years in MTG. He has no history of cheating nor do I think it happens again and no ban took place. It seemed more as the only appropriate classification for the incident rather than damning evidence worthy of public execution. I take a person’s history and all the context I know into account, especially if I’ve known them for years. I understand it looks bad, but I think we should give people a chance to show that they are better than the allegations instead of publicly trashing them at the first sign of trouble
