Ouch. Giants fans (and Dodger haters everywhere) got let down by Blue Jay pinch runner (Isiah Kiner-Falefa) who got just barely thrown out at home on a bases-loaded 1 out bottom of the ninth dramatic play, but he had nearly no secondary lead and chose to slide into home instead of running through on a force play (which probably would have made all the difference).

I am curious where the belief comes from that there is a large population in the "spear" who are encouraging, justifying, or cheering on violence. I do not see this and believe it likely to be a projection or narrative rather than a true thing.

Excited to share some research from @Theteamatx ! Using @GoogleDeepMind's AlphaEarth Foundation model, our nitter.cfpany/projects/bellwethe… team successfully mapped wildfire-fueling vegetation in previously un-analyzed parts of Canada with ~81% accuracy. This is a big step for predicting and preventing wildfires globally. arxiv.org/pdf/2508.11739

It's live! Google Research debuts Geospatial Reasoning, featuring direct contributions from our team: Bellwether at X, The Moonshot Factory. The possible futures of disaster response and planetary data insights with agentic technologies is *quite* exciting! Keep an eye on hashtag#CloudNext2025 for more! Blog post here: lnkd.in/gWaJZTZw

Yup! Totally agree. Skill at hosting is a teachable thing -- yet not yet something anyone's teaching explicitly, right?

Ok -- someone is going to make a fortune when they make the AI music organizer that just makes the current disaster go away. Apple lost their edge here, and there's not yet a great system that I've found on Android. What if you give this new AI access to the devices/hard-drives/cloud-drives and you end up with the right actual files on your phone in a way that's usable. Syncing (non-purchased from apple music) music to a new pixel or iphone shouldn't be hard. Not a business I'm going to start soon as I've got other fish to fry, but it's right there.

The 270 # doesn't stay fixed, it's a majority of the nominated/accepted electors. If a state refuses to certify, the total # drops.

AI System Achieves Silver Medal-level score in IMO The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is the oldest, largest & most prestigious competition for young mathematicians. Every year, countries send their top young mathematicians to take a 6 problem test spanning two days. A few years ago, mathematical AI systems were lucky to be able to solve 1 in 100 of past IMO problems. This year, @GoogleDeepMind built a system to tackle this year's IMO problems that combined two systems: AlphaGeometry 2, an improved version of our AlphaGeometry system, and AlphaProof, a new reinforcement-learning based system for formal mathematical reasoning. The results? During the week of the competition, this system was able to fully solve 4 of the 6 problems on this year's IMO exam, achieving a score of 28 (each problem is worth 7 points), placing it at the upper end of the IMO Silver Medal range (a level achieved by 58 of the 609 contestants in this year's IMO). AlphaProof used a fine-tuned version of a Gemini model to automatically translate natural language problem statements into formal statements, creating a large library of formal problems of varying difficulty. It then learned to solve IMO-like problems by proving or disproving millions of problems, covering a wide range of difficulties and mathematical topic areas over a period of weeks leading up to the competition. “The fact that the program can come up with a non-obvious construction like this is very impressive, and well beyond what I thought was state of the art." — Prof Sir Timothy Gowers, IMO gold medalist and Fields Medal winner Here is problem 4 of the 6, a geometry problem that AlphaGeometry solved in 19 seconds after receiving its formalization: This represents a major advance in the capabilities of AI systems to correctly perform complex mathematical reasoning on par with the world's best young mathematicians. We’re excited for a future in which mathematicians work with AI tools to explore hypotheses, try bold new approaches to solving long-standing problems and quickly complete time-consuming elements of proofs — and where AI systems like Gemini become more capable at math and broader reasoning. See the blog post below for details: deepmind.google/discover/blo…

I'm reading this (situational-awareness.ai/wp-…) and curious to hear everyone's thoughts. Feels important and not 100% on point. More from me soon, but really want to hear a variety of viewpoints on this.

Since the beginning of my scientific career, I’ve been interested in invention machines -- using the power of large scale parallel computation to automatically invent or design solutions that humans might not imagine themselves.  One of our teams at X, the moonshot factory, recently presented a paper demonstrating the progress they’ve made in this space. Read about the work here: nitter.cfpany/blog/posts/ai-siph…

We designed Gemini to be multimodal from the start, rather than starting with a purely text model and then grafting on vision and audio encoders after the fact. This means you can naturally interleave modalities: say a few things, add an image, add some text, maybe a short video, and similarly, the model can naturally interleave text and images natively as output.

My team at X is hiring. We support the early and middle pipeline as they work to de-risk their moonshots and create radical solutions to the world's biggest problems using state of the art AI and ML. It's the best job I've ever had. nitter.cfpany/careers-at-x/66581…
