The beauty of the East Coast is that you can walk into a gas station and get really good coffee for an absolute song

Nick Drake is one of my favourite people named after a type of bird theft. Others include Russell Crowe, Rob Fowler, Peregrin Took and Jack Sparrow.

Children's books are really wonderful. There are many out there with such a sense of humor that I don't recall from my youth. So many times people Tweet and then I think, have I got the picture book for you!
There's an absolutely charming children's book in this vein, My Pillow Keeps Moving by Laura Gehl

one of the best parts of a romantic relationship is two people who have a delusionally high opinion of each other. and that delusion is so powerful that it becomes reality

I've been really surprised by this as well. The frequency suggests that it's a virtue for the Greeks. But further in the thread, several people point out that it happens in older literature all over the world. I always assumed, "moved to tears" was just an expression.
rereading Homer and perhaps the single biggest thing that makes this world feel alien to the modern reader is how often the (notably courageous, manly, etc.) men are said to be moved to tears. It seems to depict a culture of overwhelming sincerity
