WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING TO THIS COUNTRY?
People can't afford groceries, gas, housing or healthcare. American troops are fighting and dying in Trump's war with Iran. Families are struggling. And Trump is playing some deranged WAR OF THE ROSES with CANADA over tariffs — one of our closest allies and trading partners.
And THIS is what we're doing? RENAMING LAKE ONTARIO?
Trump declares an international lake shared with another sovereign country “Lake America” — and GOOGLE FUCKING MAPS obediently changes it for American users. Canada still sees Lake Ontario. Much of the rest of the world gets both names. Americans get Trump's alternate reality.
WHY THE FUCK IS @googlemaps PARTICIPATING IN THIS?
Trump cannot rename Canada's part of Lake Ontario. He cannot order Canada to call it Lake America. Yet one of the most powerful information companies on Earth is helping turn one man's political stunt into the “geography” Americans see.
And then the media turns the spectacle into headline news while PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY SUFFERING.
We have an affordability crisis. A healthcare crisis. Americans are being sent into harm's way. And the President is spending his time renaming lakes to piss off Canada while Google changes the map and the press feeds the spectacle.
STOP TREATING PROPAGANDA AS GEOGRAPHY.
STOP TREATING MADNESS AS NORMAL POLITICS.
We have REAL fucking problems.

This decision is a *game-changer.*
Every piece of legislation in BC must now be interpreted through the lens of UNDRIP (previously it was a non-binding instrument)... with *immediate* effect.
We simply can't have the province run by 200+ small governments that have no democratic relationship to 95% plus of BC citizens.
Our economy will be unworkable.
BC will be ungovernable.
...and... keep in mind... this is the *same* Court that will hear the Cowichan appeal.
‼️MAJOR NEWS on the UNDRIP front today coming out of the BC Court of Appeal re: Gitxaala v. British Columbia:
"The judge erred in adopting an unduly narrow approach to the legal effect of the Declaration Act and UNDRIP. Properly interpreted, the Declaration Act incorporates UNDRIP into the positive law of British Columbia with immediate legal effect."
Keep in mind, UNDRIP says (Article 26):
"Indigenous peoples have the right to own, use, develop and control the lands, territories and resources that they possess by reason of traditional ownership or other traditional occupation or use, as well as those which they have otherwise acquired."
So what does this now mean for all the other BC laws that are inconsistent with Article 26? Such as the laws that protect private property rights?
More questions than answers at this point. But anyone still saying DRIPA shouldn't be repealed doesn't understand what this means for the future of our province.

Yes - I thought so too. Fake hair, fake teeth, tight space suits, makeup you could scrape off with the back of your thumbnail. I was disgusted to see that. My dad always wanted me to be an astronaut. Became a neuroscientist/forensic scientist instead - and never tarted myself up like that (haha except maybe my boy-crazy teens). This display does nothing for women+science, or women+space exploration.

I didn't read it way. And I'm not a particular fan. But I can see if a true shitshow starts April 2 - Canadians may be loathe to upend the apple cart. They should form a war cabinet either way, IMO. Poilievre has good ideas...
I think @ABDanielleSmith needs to issue some kind of statement today clarifying her comments. This is an extremely serious situation. Asking a foreign government to effectively act to impact a Canadian election is a gross violation of our sovereignty.

Usha Vance Confirms Visit to Greenland.
The Second Lady of the United States, Usha Vance, confirms in a statement from her office that she will arrive in Greenland on Thursday and return home on Saturday.
During her visit, she will explore historical landmarks, learn about Greenland’s history, and attend the national dog sled race, Avannaata Qimussersu.
“Mrs. Vance and the delegation are excited to witness the historic race and celebrate Greenlandic culture and unity.”
She is accompanied by her son, the statement adds.
