If you're actually trying to defend her, this is a terrible take. She's been relieved if command at least once, has a mile long list of IG complaints for being toxic, incompetent, and generally ineffective as a leader, plus she doesn't have the experience or know how to speak about anything strategic level or above. These are simple facts. Don't let your politics get in the way of glaring facts about a DEI hire gone severely wrong that's now trying politics.

Modern warfare takes a hell of a lot more than door-kickers and trigger-pullers. Logistics, intelligence, engineering, maintenance, deterrence, C2 , all of it matters.
I was a submarine officer. I eventually commanded an SSBN and later a submarine squadron. I wasn’t kicking doors, but I’d argue nuclear deterrence was still a fairly important contribution to national defense.
Different officers bring different experience and skills to the fight. That’s kind of the point of a joint force.
And yes, I’ll be interested to hear what you have to say to Congress about your own role as a special government employee. In terms of popcorn selection should I go with Orville Redenbacher, or Jolly Time? Let me know.

For starters, SCOTUS effectively blessed the move when it refused to block similar rescissions of USAID funding 2025. The big spenders are big mad because they know they can’t just run to the courts to get what they want.
But the biggest reason for the meltdown is that the rescissions preemptively blow up the end-of-year, post-election spending jamboree that all the worst people in Congress have been planning for months. Everyone knows the bipartisan spending cabal has been salivating at the prospect of another insane end-of-year omnibus.
The Trump admin likely had both dynamics in mind when it took the knife to this absurd and wasteful spending.

🧵CONGRESS decided that these funds would lapse on September 30.
CONGRESS decided to grant itself an expedited procedure to consider rescinding funds and told the President to hold the funds while Congress decides whether to rescind.
CONGRESS decided not to limit the time period in which the President can send a rescission.
CONGRESS was told by GAO in 1975 that pocket rescissions are permitted and to amend the text to prevent pocket rescissions.
CONGRESS has amended the ICA several times but has let this provision allowing pocket rescissions to stay in place.
We are just using the system CONGRESS established and never changed despite being told by your own GAO to change it.
We will continue to use the tools CONGRESS provided to save taxpayer dollars from going to (just a few examples):
$567 million for social services for illegal aliens
$15 million in welfare for illegal aliens
$9 million to bail out foreign country climate change policies
$56 million for NGO DEI and race discrimination
A pocket rescission is an illegal line item veto.
It is the president saying that he and he alone will convert a bipartisan spending bill (that has been signed into law) into a partisan spending bill.
He is canceling the lines of spending he doesn't like.
This violates the core separation of powers embedded in our constitution in which it is the Congress, not the president, who decides what programs are designed and at what level they are funded.
Republican colleagues said they would never let this happen. Well here it is.
They should ask themselves: "How would I like to have a Democratic president canceling out the Republican flavored programs he or she doesn't like in a bipartisan spending bill that has been signed into law?"
If they have any integrity or any spine, they will join us in ending this practice.

I was recently in a location where I had been maybe 20 times in my lifetime but not once in the past 25 years.
As an English speaking Caucasian male I was one of a group of maybe 10% of those present.
The environment would have been the same in the same location in a foreign country that has a sizable tourism trade of Caucasian Americans.
The community has been altered forever.

The problem is there is nothing "wrong" with the "economy."
Economic growth is rising and unemployment is falling.
Prices remaining high because of PAST INFLATION isn't an "economy" thing.
Home prices being high because of a shortage of affordable inventory for first or second time homebuyers isn't an "economy" thing.
Buyers taking out car loans for 84 months at 15% interest rates, and being upside down in their equity for 36-48 months isn't an "economy" thing.
Having a large portion of the college educated workforce emerge from academia with worthless degrees that employers place no value in for hiring purposes isn't an "economy" thing.
Trump and the GOP are going to pay the price for an "economy" when the problems are not a feature of the "economy."
They are a product of choices made by voters in their own lives.
Gas prices have been expensive before.
Interest rates have been high before.
But I've never seen so many $60,000 pickup trucks and $85,000 SUVs being driven down the road ever in my life.

Much has been made about this moment.
I'm ambivalent -- my antipathy for Joe Biden, based on his 50 years in public life, could not be higher. I singular figure that history should look upon with disgust.
He wanted Trump in federal prison so he could not run again against him in 2024.

Americans should get most favored nation status in our own courts. Is there a claim here for a benefit (lower charge) available to people of all countries (illegal alien/DACA recipients) *except* the United States? I've seen more novel Equal Protection claims
Arlington’s Commonwealth’s Attorney testified that her office has a DUI policy specifically for DACA recipients. In a small number of cases, prosecutors have considered changing a DUI to a different first-degree misdemeanor so the defendant can renew DACA status. (We don’t have first-degree misdemeanors - they are called Class 1 misdemeanors - surprised an elected prosecutor doesn’t know that).
She says the defendant is still held accountable and the original DUI charge remains visible. But DACA status is a factor in the plea resolution, one that an American citizen charged with the same offense cannot invoke.
