Listen, I think on a first read, some of the messages and implications of the original Dune novel CAN be hard to pick up. It was the same for me.
Messiah is the perfect Sequel because it sort of works like an epilogue that tells you what this story is really about.
But Villeneuve's movies? Even the first one shows you that Paul is on a truly dangerous path, set by the Bene Gesserit, who plant religious superstitions to later exploit them in cruelest fashion.
The second film's ending is BLEAK. It's the realization that you didn't watch the unfolding of a hero's journey, but rooted for someone who starts a holy war that will burn through the universe. Timothée Chalamet is SCARY after the water of life scene. Lady Jessica as one of the driving forces is more terrifying than she ever was in the books.
I just don't get how anyone can watch this movie and think: "This is the figure I think I should idolize. What a wonderful hero he is."

Literally me coming out of Dune 2 thinking about how I’ve been a part of a cultural moment in history and something that we’ll probably never have for another 20 years

people really hate on Mason Silva because his video parts are just him being good at skateboarding and he dresses like a normal person instead of a cartoon character
