A county in Oregon fought ICE harder than it ever fought a child predator.
Victor Soseia Hachipan was convicted on two counts of sex abuse of a victim under 14. DHS says he's an illegal alien from Micronesia with meth and burglary convictions on top of that, plus failing to report as a sex offender.
ICE asked Marion County to hold him in 2021. They refused and let him walk. He reoffended in 2023 and got released again.
Then HSI sent a subpoena just asking where he was. Marion County said no, citing Oregon's sanctuary law. Federal prosecutors had to go to a federal judge to force the county to cough up the information. ICE finally grabbed him October 7 in Keizer.
Think about that. Local officials knew where a convicted child sex abuser was and guarded it like a state secret from federal law enforcement.
Sanctuary laws don't protect immigrants. They protect predators. Every Oregon official who signed off on this owes those kids' families an answer.

35 YEARS AGO TODAY, Justice Clarence Thomas was confirmed by a vote of 52-48 after the Democrats launched an all-out war to destroy him.
They failed spectacularly. Despite the most vicious smears and lies, Justice Thomas never backed down.
In a legendary exchange during the hearing, when Justice Thomas was told by Senator Hatch that there were rumors that he was going to withdraw, Justice Thomas said, “I would rather die than withdraw. If they’re going to kill me, they’re going to kill me . . . I’d rather die than withdraw from the process, not for the purpose of serving on the Supreme Court but for the purpose of not being driven out of this process... I’ve never run from bullies. I never cry uncle and I’m not going to cry uncle today whether I want to be on the Supreme Court or not.”
God Bless Justice Thomas for his courage and perseverance in the face of such an outrageous assault.
Justice Thomas is now our second longest serving Justice in American history, and more important, he has had more impact on American jurisprudence than any Justice in history. His opinions have led the way in returning the Court’s jurisprudence to the Constitution’s original meaning.

A landmark Finnish study has found a sharp rise in psychiatric illness among adolescents following sex-alteration procedures.
The peer-reviewed study, published in Acta Paediatrica, tracked every young person under 23 who contacted Finland's gender clinics between 1996 and 2019.
A total 2,083 individuals were studied, with 16,643 matched controls. They were followed for up to 25 years.
Finland's health registers are mandatory, which means no one opts out — this is the complete national picture.
The numbers: psychiatric morbidity rose from 9.8% to 60.7% in adolescents who underwent feminising reassignment, and from 21.6% to 54.5% in masculinising reassignment.
Even after adjusting for prior psychiatric history, gender-referred adolescents faced five times the risk of male population controls, and three times the risk of female controls.
"Psychiatric needs do not subside after medical gender reassignment," the authors concluded.
Referrals after 2010 arrived sicker. 47.9% had already needed psychiatric treatment before their first clinic visit, against 15.3% among controls.
The authors' read: for some adolescents, gender distress may be secondary to other mental health challenges.
The evidence keeps mounting. The silencing continues anyway.
