I think one of the best thing you can do as an early-stage founder is spend an unreasonable amount of time talking to customers So after someone signs up on Bachs, we give them an option to book a call with the team… and surprisingly we get about 50-60 calls booked weekly those calls have become one of my favorite parts of building Bachs (even though there are definitely days when I see how busy the calendar is and wonder why we did this lol) But yeah we get to hear real users talk through their problems, see how they’re actually using the product, discover use cases we’ve never even thought about, understand where the product actually still has rough edges You learn things from these conversations really… one thing they’ve really changed for us is how we think about building. We now treat almost everything as an assumption We can think we understand the problem, we can think we know how people will use a feature, we can think we’re building the right thing but until we talk to customers, it’s still just an assumption! If you’re building a product, talk to your customers a lot, a lottt Also, I’ve met some really interesting people through these calls. You start with “how can we help you with Bachs?” and somehow 40 minutes later you’re talking about their entire company😂, had to cut the call time down to something shorter recently lol Find ways to get your customers on a call, put the option right after signup, send them an email, make it ridiculously easy for them to talk to you The more conversations you have, the less you have to guess
