Part 2 of my Leisure series now up via the ever-radiant @TheWarKitchen
This piece in the series explores the importance of solitude; an art form lost to the sheened digital beacons constantly affixed to our appendages.
Oh, but what a beautiful time for quietude to re-surfaceβ¦

Green is Good. Green is Great. The colour and sign of verdant fertility, of vitality, of life!
Currently enjoying The Cocktail Hour by Tim Hayward alongside Suze + Alpine gimlet variations synchronised and optimised to match the alluring colour of the volumeβs dust jacket.
Images taken via test of the new & beautiful @camera_nocta app being developed by @simonsarris. The βmossβ setting being particularly aligned with this colour scheme.
Staying on the Green theme, perhaps I shall indulge in his kombu martini next time round as I continue to explore the contours and outlines embedded in the bookβs form.
Itβs not just the booze hit & the sensory intoxication that make cocktails so beguiling; itβs the endless stories & interpretations sending One down the myriad rabbit holes upon rabbit holes steeped in lore and ritual.
Not to mention that Timβs mixed beverage ethos is underpinned by what I believe to be the two most important elements of a quality cocktail β lore and ritual.
110 pages spent carving out otaku level detail in respect to dilution, temperature, ice and glassware before the reader even hits the first spec is my style of cocktail book.

We must return to a world where the threshold space is imbued with anticipation & vigour.
Entering the zone where you wait should rightfully be a moment of quiet joy & illumination.
Inhabiting threshold spaces in a leisurely manner in anticipation of a voyage or moment to come has certainly become a lost art as people seek to optimise their routines & avoid βdeadβ zones in their day. Incidentally, this very window is the apex time for mundane magic to occur.
Other factors that have contributed to the decline in leisurely inhabitation of thresholds are the complete deterioration of the service industry combined with an absolute dilution of aesthetics β both in the sense of interior space/design/materials & the attire of the occupants.
