This scripture perfectly describes "Christian" nationism 1 John 4:3 (KJV) And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: & this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; & even now already is it in world

Get used to this happening a lot this season. They are relying of either Paul George or Derrick White to be their 2nd scorer.

Let’s talk about the Chris Maragos case… aka the one where a Philly jury hit Eagles doctors with a $43.5 million verdict for negligently ending a Super Bowl captain’s career. Maragos tore his PCL (with meniscus issues) in a 2017 game vs. the Panthers. Dr. James Bradley (longtime Steelers doc) did the surgery; Rothman Orthopaedics (Eagles team docs) handled rehab. Plaintiffs argued the meniscus wasn’t properly addressed and rehab was advanced too aggressively (including running) despite a 2018 MRI showing persistent problems. That caused further damage and forced retirement in 2019. Defense said the meniscus was stable and more surgery would have done more harm than good. After a two-week trial (Nick Foles, Trey Burton, and Jordan Hicks testified), the jury found negligence in under three hours. Liability: Bradley 67% ($29.2M), Rothman 33% ($14.3M). An economist put lost earnings at ~$8.7M as the floor; the rest reflected pain, limitations, and future care. The verdict was upheld on appeal in 2024. Maragos’ lawyer put it bluntly: it forces team doctors to stop focusing only on “when can he return to play” and start thinking about the next 50 years of a player’s life.
Fun fact, players have sued team doctors for negligent return-to-play decisions (ex-Eagles captain Chris Maragos won $43.5M over his knee care). As a very disappointed Eagles fan, I’m enraged. Hurts was in the hospital until 4 am, told not to sleep because of the clot risk, then cleared to play in London. Now it’s DVT + bilateral pulmonary emboli and he’s out for the season on blood thinners. Granted I’m no doctor, but I wouldn’t be surprised if his career is over because of this. There are some serious questions around that initial medical call that need to be looked at. Health first for Jalen.

This is so good. Such a terrific take.

THEY TOLD Jalen Hurts NOT TO SLEEP 🤯 YET THEY STILL LET HIM PLAY. Are you kidding me right now???? FIRE THE ENTIRE @Eagles MEDICAL STAFF NOW. THIS IS BLATANT MALPRACTICE.
Jalen Hurts was told by doctors not to sleep after his initial diagnosis of a superficial blood clot while in London. Hurts stayed awake for roughly 36 hours before starting against the Jaguars. (per @TomPelissero)
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Tom Pelissero, the source cited, later clarified after speaking to Jalen Hurts' agent that Hurts was able to sleep after hospital evaluation and felt rested to play. x.com/TomPelissero/s… cbssports.com/nfl/news/jalen… sportingnews.com/us/nfl/philade…

Rich white men are literally the worst.
🤔 @JamesCarville: “I’d rather Republicans keep the house by 5 than Dems win by 5… Because then they’re hostage to DSA, and Hakeem can’t move.” 😬@BillKristol: “Good point.” So afraid of DSA folks who want M4ALL, etc. they’d rather Republicans hold power. Unreal. True colors.

A Harvard professor came home from a trip to China and found his front door jammed. He forced it open. A neighbour called the police. Henry Louis Gates Jr. was arrested on his own porch, in his own house, holding his own ID. He is one of the most famous historians in America. Cambridge, Massachusetts, 16 July 2009. Gates, 58, had just flown back from China. His front door would not open. He and his driver shouldered it. A passer-by called it in as a possible break-in. Sergeant James Crowley arrived. Gates was inside his own house by then. He produced his Harvard ID and his driver's licence with that address on it. What happened next is disputed by both men and always will be. Crowley said Gates was uncooperative and loud. Gates said he was asked to step outside, understood exactly what was happening, and said so — including asking the officer for his name and badge number, repeatedly, and not getting it. He was arrested for disorderly conduct. On his own property. A fifty-eight-year-old man walking with a cane. The charge was dropped within days. Cambridge later acknowledged the arrest was regrettable. Barack Obama was asked about it at a press conference and said the police had "acted stupidly," which caused a political firestorm large enough that he convened the famous "beer summit" at the White House with Gates and Crowley to defuse it. And that is where the story usually stops, with three men and some beer on a lawn. Here is what it is actually about. Henry Louis Gates has a MacArthur fellowship, dozens of honorary degrees and a chair at Harvard. He has made television series about tracing Black ancestry. He is about as protected as a Black man in America can be. And none of it worked on his own porch. Every Black professional who has ever been told that respectability is the shield watched that arrest and understood what it meant. Gates said afterwards that the experience changed what he thought he knew about his own country, and he has spent some of the time since working on criminal justice. If it does not work for him, it does not work.

Every winter I think about Khaleel and what he was trying to do to help unhoused and vulnerable citizens. Instead of hiring him as a consultant and contractor, the city wasted taxpayers' money suing him for violating ByLaws, and of course paid a white man to copy Khaleel's idea.
Khaleel Seivwright, a Black carpenter in Toronto, built free insulated mini shelters for homeless people so they could survive freezing winter nights. The small wooden structures are designed to stay warm using just body heat.

People aren't ready for that conversation because it's premised in nonsense.
The Ayo trade was really good for the Bulls, but people aren't ready to have that conversation yet. Leonard Miller is a baller, they lost enough games to move up for Caleb Wilson, and there would have been zero reason to give Ayo the 5/$112 he got from Minnesota. AK masterclass?
