Bought Thomas Pynchon’s Shadow Ticket today at my local indie bookseller (if I can say that without being accused of virtue signaling).

a book review that never formally ends because the reviewer keeps re-reviewing the book every 5-7 years to see how their life/cultural circumstances changes the experience of reading the book

Today had to tell my shrink who Nikola Jokić is. Despite the fact that it’s Jamal Murray who much more determines the ups and downs of my emotional life
Ooh neat
Today’s subway read: ‘Reading Hegel: Irony, Recollection, Critique’ (2025) by Robert Lucas Scott @_rob_scott
RLS asks, how to read speculatively? A critical intervention in literary theory in a time of crisis. Brilliant thesis on Hegel’s truth as ironic. So far so very good..!
Just realizing now the First Four is really the "first eight." Or is the Final Four now the "final two?"

What a terrifically wonderful Nick Cage performance in wild over the top “Bad Lieutenant: New Orleans.” Totally unprepared to learn—(which probably everyone else knows)—that Werner Herzog directed.

A reporter asked Jayson Tatum, who grew up a big Kobe Bryant fan, what it will mean to young kids to see a big star like Luka Doncic playing for the Lakers. Tatum did not seem to enjoy the line of questioning.
"I don't know," Tatum said. "I know a lot of kids watch the Celtics play."
The reporter then said it's a big change for the league.
"Yeah, it was a big trade and a big change," Tatum replied. "But I'm not a little kid anymore so I don't really watch the Lakers play. I'm a big Celtics fan."

One of the most important ideas that Lynch was very adamant on was the ability for viewers to intuit and interpret his work. You already have all that you need to understand it.

this is shocking ! there was something about David Lynch that seemed timeless, ageless. it is even surprising to learn that he was 78... perpetual youth & freshness of the imagination.
Director-writer David Lynch, who radicalized American film with with a dark, surrealistic artistic vision in films like “Blue Velvet” and “Mulholland Drive” and network television with “Twin Peaks,” has died. He was 78. bit.ly/40is3yQ

Happy New Year! Some MATH for 2025:
1. 2025 itself is a PERFECT square: 45² = 2025
2. It is a product of two squares, namely: 9² × 5² = 2025
3. It is the sum of THREE squares, namely: 40² + 20² + 5² = 2025
4. The last perfect square? 1936
44² = Year 1936
5. It is the sum of the cubes of all the digits from 1 to 9:
1³ + 2³ + 3³ + 4³ + 5³ + 6³ + 7³ + 8³ + 9³ = 2025
6. It is also the squared sum of all the numbers from 1 to 9: (1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9)²=2025
The year 2025 is MATHEMATICALLY remarkable.
Let's hope it is also remarkable on the human level!
Health, happiness, prosperity and peace for all! 😀🎉
