argh a certain group/generation of mastering engineers needs to chill out with all the tube and retro processing. show some subtlety ffs.
If we change "that's what she said.." to "that's what I said last night..." and use it in self deprecating context, the world would be a better, not to mention funnier, place.

Saturday was so so special. NYE has nothing on 1st post pandemic gigs, not a single molecule. But I also never want to do it again.
I think there's a general misconception around "getting" management. IME if you're doing anything remotely right and have something that capable PR people can actually sell, and don't keep yourself totally invisible, they will come to you. IMO a more organic and smarter strategy.

Why do transient shapers feel like cheating? Probably because I really have no clue how they work so well with no treshold control. And probably also because I still have some "who can chop breaks the best" hang ups from my drum'n'bass days.
And definitely because I've managed to actually rescue/rebalance drums on stereo files on some recent masters with 'em. It still feels pretty Sci Fi to me. (@oeksound spiff and @NewfangledAudio punctuate for this)
Ski's "9 tail fox fur" bar is probably the biggest fantasy flex of all time. There can't be many of those around.
Kicks: Keep them tight and short! You'll probably want more midrange and punch over sub content because you have less time to deliver the punch. Tailored short reverb and rumble layers can help in making them feel bigger.
