"Hearing" your kids vs. truly LISTENING to them. 👂✨
Kids rarely come home in a bad mood for "no reason." Whether it's a conflict with a peer, a tough day at school, or something much deeper, children often express their struggles through mood and behavioral changes.
In the hustle of everyday life, it’s easy to hear them without actually listening. Taking a moment to slow down, ask questions, and be present creates the safe space children need to open up.
The Center Founder & CEO Darcy Olsen joined KTAR News to discuss why intentional listening isn't just good parenting—it's a critical layer of child protection.

PT. 1 "Abused children count on members of our community to spot them and get them to safety." 💔
As kids head back to school, teachers, neighbors, and parents are on the frontlines of child protection. For children in unsafe situations, caring adults outside their home are often their only lifeline.
Our founder and CEO, Darcy Olsen, sat down with KTAR News to break down what every adult should be looking out for:
♥️ Drastic behavioral shifts
♥️ Sudden academic decline
♥️Acting out, withdrawal, or depression
Protecting childhood takes all of us.

Ohio’s news is a reminder of how cruel people can be to their own children. For these 16 children, healing will be lifelong. Authorities say they were invisible. They were not. People will come forward saying they suspected something was off but never made the call. Always make the call.
Our founder, Darcy Olsen, joined LiveNOW to discuss the lifelong challenges these survivors will face and why immediate, specialized child protection is critical to their healing.

Every foster child deserves our unwavering support, and it's time for all states to step up. Governors, commit to strengthening America’s future by pledging to establish Fostering the Future Accounts in your state. Together, we will transform lives and create brighter tomorrows for these deserving children.

These statistics are heartbreaking, but we refuse to accept them as inevitable. 📉
The harrowing vulnerabilities confronting the 20,000 young adults who age out of care every year are exactly why we fight so fiercely for systemic change.
By empowering child protection agencies to open "Fostering the Future Accounts" for the youth in their care, we are actively breaking this cycle. We are building a critical financial safety net so these resilient young people can look toward a secure future.

A backpack of used clothes versus a secure financial foundation. The contrast is that simple, and that powerful. 🎒💳
For decades, the system allowed young adults to age out of care with next to nothing. Thanks to the leadership of First Lady Melania Trump and the launch of the Fostering the Future Accounts initiative, we are actively rewriting that script.
This historic step ensures vulnerable youth enter adulthood with true asset ownership, financial autonomy, and the dignity they deserve.
This is what modern child protection looks like in action. Head to the link in our bio to read the full piece featured in The Hill.

First Lady Opens Trump Accounts to America's Children in Foster Care
Finally, America's foster children are not invisible. Thanks to the First Lady, child welfare agencies can now open Trump Accounts so kids in care can save for the future, too. 💛
Starting at birth, just $50 a month grows to roughly $20,000 by age 18 — and accounts officially open July 4. 23 governors have already pledged to support accounts for their foster youth.
Churches, companies and foundations also can contribute to every foster child's account in their community, tax-free — so who will step up for the foster kids in YOUR town?

Darcy went into orientation ready to change a life, but she didn’t realize how much her own life was about to brighten. 🌟 While the world talks about the crisis, Darcy decided to talk about the solution: a crib, a soft blanket, and a promise. That "Red Exit Sign" isn't the end of the story—it’s the beginning of a journey toward a home filled with laughter and safety. Darcy chose to be the light at the end of the tunnel, and today, that crib represents the brightest hope.

A Happy Home Means... "The Saturday Morning Nothing." 🥞☕
We’ve celebrated the pizza nights and the bedtime stories, but there is a specific kind of brilliance in a Saturday morning where there’s nowhere to be. It’s the sound of cartoons in the background, the smell of pancakes, and the sight of a child finally feeling safe enough to just relax. In a world that felt chaotic for so long, "doing nothing" is actually doing everything. It’s the ultimate sign of stability: when a child stops looking over their shoulder and starts just being a kid.

They aren’t “runaways.” They are missing children.
Did you know that every day in America, 50 children go missing from foster care. Many are later found in trafficking situations, or worse.
At the Center for the Rights of Abused Children, we refuse to accept that.
In Missouri, we helped pass a landmark reform that changes how the state responds when a child disappears:
• Missing children now must be reported within 2 hours
• Searches cannot stop until a child is found
• Current photos are required so law enforcement can act immediately
Children in foster care are not disposable. They are not statistics. And they are never “just runaways.”

PT. 2 of Darcy's Story!
From a newborn on morphine in the NICU to a thriving little girl, Darcy’s first foster child became the spark that launched the Center for the Rights of Abused Children.❤️
What started as one act of care is now hundreds of thousands of children with brighter
futures.

To the architects of happy endings—today is for you. 🕊️
Today we honor the bridge-builders: the social workers, NICU nurses, and pediatricians who nurse tiny warriors back to health and hold their hands until they reach safety. You aren't just doing a job; you are creating the foundation for a lifetime of happiness. Thank you for being the brilliant light that leads children home!

The data is clear: when abused children have attorneys by their side, they exit the system 3.5 times faster. That is nearly two years of childhood reclaimed! Two more years of bike rides, family dinners, and knowing exactly where you belong. Every day spent in limbo is a day too long. Let’s keep moving toward the light—faster.
