“Illegal Immigrant From India Stalked Her for Months — Then Executed Her in a Panera Parking Lot” Shalini Thakur, 38, was chased through a Sacramento Panera parking lot in broad daylight and shot dead. Sheriff Jim Cooper: “This young lady was chased down and gunned down, and then he stands over her and executes her.” DHS says the killer, Rohit Rohit, 22, of India, was in the United States illegally. Border Patrol arrested him after he crossed into Arizona in August 2023. He was released into the country. He stayed. He met her through DoorDash deliveries. He put an AirTag under her hood. He slashed her tires and pretended to help. He got a copy of her apartment key and entered while she slept. He told her he wanted to marry her. She got a restraining order in May. He violated it in July. Deputies had probable cause and could not find him. Last Tuesday he waited at her car, chased her when she ran, shot her multiple times, then shot her in the head at close range. Police found him dead of a self-inflicted gunshot in his car on Highway 50.
