Fun fact: our model is called Kimi, but our company is Moonshot — named after Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon.
We're a team of scientists who love rock (Radiohead, Pink Floyd) and film (Tarantino, Kubrick).
A big reason I joined was because the taste just felt right.

Releasing the model weights and technical report of Kimi K3.
Kimi K3 is our most capable model: a 2.8T MoE model with native visual understanding and a 1M-token context window.
New model architecture: 2.5x the intelligence per unit of compute, not just more params.
Alongside Kimi K3, we're opening up more of the stack behind it — high-performance attention kernels, MoE communication library, and infrastructure for running agent environments at scale.

Kimi K3 is #1 in 3D design arena
BREAKING: Kimi K3 by @Kimi_Moonshot is 1st overall on 3D Design with an Elo of 1450.
This is a 6 position and 108 Elo jump from @Kimi_Moonshot's previous model, Kimi K2.6. This performance puts Kimi K2.6 82 Elo ahead of Claude Fable 5 by @AnthropicAI in 2nd and 87 Elo ahead of GLM 5.2 by @Zai_org in 3rd.
Congratulations to the @Kimi_Moonshot team on this accomplishment!
Kimi is #1 in Design Arena, a benchmark for frontend website-building capabilities.
BREAKING: Kimi K3 by @Kimi_Moonshot is officially 1st on Frontend Web App Arena by DesignArena
With an Elo of 1326, this open-weight model leads the way, ahead of Fable 5, Sonnet 5, and Opus 4.8 by @AnthropicAI
Huge congrats to the @Kimi_Moonshot team for this achievement!

Kimi K3 has received far more love than we expected, and our GPUs are feeling it.
Over the past 48 hours, demand has pushed close to the limits of our current capacity. To protect the experience of existing subscribers, we're temporarily pausing new subscriptions and prioritizing compute for current members. Existing subscribed users are not affected.
We're adding capacity as fast as we can and will reopen new subscription spots in batches.
Going forward, we'll also split membership into two more focused plans: Kimi Membership for Kimi Web, App, and Work; and Kimi Code Membership for coding workflows. This will help us match compute more precisely and keep the experience stable.
Thank you for your patience and understanding!
I think Kimi has a really great research team. I often come across interesting things and send over to the team, and they'll reply:
“But this is not AGI.”
Replying to @mark_k
but quite the opposite, i'd say kimi is every bit as much a true believer in scaling laws as A\, arguably more so than oai

Kimi K3 ranks #1 on @AfterQuery's SpreadsheetBench 2, surpassing Claude Fable 5.
An open weight model now outperforms all closed-sourced models. Read more in the Kimi K3 blog and SpreadsheetBench 2 paper linked below.
Congrats to the @kimi_moonshot team on the incredible model!
Kimi K3 is absolutely hammering through my Windows XP Simulator to do list
Claude Code couldn't do this for 2 weeks or kept getting stuck because I would get downgraded to Opus for safety then to Sonnet again for safety, useless
2 weeks of time wasted due to safety guardrails that are dumb just to protect me from making a fun hobby project
Thank you China!!!!
Thanks everyone got OpenCode working with Kimi K3
First I tried OpenRouter but immediately it said "rate limited upstream"
So that upstream being Kimi's servers, so I signed up to Kimi, paid $19, got an API key and off we go!
Unlike Claude Code it doesn't block me every 5 minutes now for just making Windows XP work in the browser (zomg cybersecurity!!!!11), ridiculous being belittled by your AI model all day
Yesterday I asked about monocytes vs lymphocytes ratio in my blood cause I saw someone post it here and Claude started a whole tirade how it's worried about me because I ask him about my health, the actual fuck?
wat? You told me kimi made this MacOS system?
macos27.kimi.page/
It finally finished, here's the final output. Used 60% of my monthly Kimi usage on it

Everyone keeps talking about how good Kimi K3 is.
So I gave it one of my favorite frontend tests:
one prompt + one reference image.
The task: rebuild a 3D globe dashboard. 🌎
The result was almost too good.
It did not just build a working page.
The texture, lighting, spacing, depth, glass panels, and overall layout were all remarkably close to the reference.
Some parts felt nearly pixel-perfect.
My honest first impression: for this kind of frontend work, Kimi K3 might be slightly better than Fable 5.
All at Sonnet prices.

Kimi K3 is the best performing model on nextjs.org/evals, ahead of Fable, reaching a comparable success rate in less time.
This is the first time that an open model is ahead of all proprietary ones for this comprehensive web engineering benchmark.
Notes:
▪️ Benchmarks don’t always tell the full story, although this is important signal, adding to mounting evidence that this could be a breakthrough moment for open models
▪️ No model as of yet has reached 100% completion on this set of evals. The top performer peaks at 92% and 96% “with help”
This is a big moment for us
Big news: Kimi-K3 by @Kimi_Moonshot is now #1 in the Frontend Code Arena with 1679 pts, surpassing Claude Fable 5.
This is a 17-place jump from Kimi-k2.6 (#18 -> #1).
In Frontend, Kimi-K3 ranked #1 in 6 of 7 domains: Brand & Marketing, Reference-Based Design, Data & Analytics, Consumer Product, Simulations, and Content Creation Tools, landing #2 only in Gaming behind Fable 5.
The full model weights will be released by July 27.
Congrats to the @Kimi_Moonshot team on this major milestone!
