two years ago, when we were designing based rollups/apps over kaspa with canonical bridging etc, did we have this privacy use case in mind? at least for me, no.
(see posts here:
research.kas.pa/t/on-the-des…
research.kas.pa/t/l1-l2-cano… brainstormed with @dimdumon, @hashdag and @VolokhIlia)
seeing these ideas now being explored for privacy is a reminder of why infrastructure work needs to be sound, diligent and forward thinking. you can’t anticipate every application, but thinking carefully about the foundations can make room for things you hadn’t specifically imagined.
eg with the canonical bridge, the core idea is a pool of resources whose internal distribution is managed by the L2 app state and opaque to L1. this seems to map cleanly to the proposed privacy architecture, with an additional layer where each user’s private state is hidden from everyone else and the app itself verifies user proofs as part of its execution/proving (worth mentioning that these user proofs need not be directly compatible with L1 zk opcodes, only the outer app proof needs to be)
same goes for kip21 and proving work proportional to app activity, which seems rather useful and important here as well.
one more thing i wanted to add here (and we discussed), @WellerOlaf: the based component not only provides censorship resistance but also gives in-app confirmation times driven by L1 frequency and not proof frequency. once an operation is ordered and its execution locally validated, every possible prover is bound to that outcome. no valid proof can advance past it while skipping or changing it
Had a really interesting conversation with Kaspa core developer @michaelsuttonil about the Kaspa Privacy Initiative today.
We discussed our candidate architecture for a scalable shielded native KAS protocol, using covenants, ZK proofs, permissionless relayers and batchers.
One of the biggest takeaways was how much of the infrastructure we're looking for may already be available through Kaspa's Based Apps and KIP-21.
In our original design, one of the challenges was ensuring that batchers couldn't selectively omit user operations while claiming to have processed a complete batch.
With Based Apps, user operations can be ordered directly on Kaspa L1 in an application-specific lane. KIP-21 provides cryptographic sequencing commitments, allowing a properly designed settlement proof to demonstrate that the relevant operations were processed correctly.
That could remove a substantial amount of custom infrastructure we'd otherwise have to build ourselves.
We also discussed canonical bridges, recursive proving and why sharding may introduce unnecessary complexity at this stage.
Our next step is a small Based App feasibility PoC on TN10.
We'll test lane ordering, execution, proof-based settlement, deliberate transaction omission and independent reconstruction before adding the actual shielded privacy logic.
No architecture has been finalized. The goal remains to find the safest, most scalable and most decentralized solution, not to defend an earlier design.
Really appreciate Michael taking the time to share his insights. Conversations like these are incredibly valuable.
Technical feedback, criticism and contributions are very welcome!

KaspaCom is building the bridge to KCC20. Coming soon. ⚡️
Bridge KRC20 and Kaspa L2 tokens to KCC20, their native home on Kaspa L1. One way. No locked funds.
Once across, they’ll be ready to trade on KaspaCom Markets.
Tokens cross the bridge. The community follows them home.

THE FUTURE IS HOOD.
TIBBIR was built for real world assets. The Robinhood Chain has built an incredible ecosystem for tokenized assets onchain. It is clear that for the TIBBIR community to take the leap into the real world, the time has come to 🌉
Gribbit.

Update on the KRC20 incident:
The full revert and verification processes are proceeding smoothly; based on current progress, completion will still take several days.
Once finished, the public API will be reopened, and further investigations will be conducted into the chains of transactions linked to the exploit.

Replying to @BlackRock
“...always-on rails built for high-frequency, low-value payments.”
i think ai’s need more than that. they need an ai-native programming language for dynamically expressing and composing logic on demand, so they can form cheap enforceable “covenants” with each other. they need fast rails where multiple parties can enter those agreements atomically.
eg an agent could assemble several agents it neither knows nor trusts for a one-off job, generate custom rules for contribution, success and payment, and have everyone enter the agreement atomically. once settled, the agreement can simply disappear

Marco Rubio @SecRubio is hands down the BEST Secretary of State!!
This is him in 2011 and talk about being able to read the room.

just a gentle reminder that krc20 is not kaspa L1, it only travels over L1 txs as data carriers, but the interpretation of krc20 state is done purely offchain just like any other non-zk based solution. this is why covenants were developed for kaspa L1 with kcc20 built on top of them for native assets (note: kcc20 spec is still in draft)

a lot crossed the interns feed this week. some of it even made it into the brain.
too much to give everything its own post, so welcome to the first annual-weekly-might-not-happen-again dev roundup.
1 / SilverScript v1
@OriNewman released v1. lets devs write Kaspa contracts in something a human can read. his token example goes from thousands of lines of low-level code to roughly 60. fewer lines for intern to misunderstand.
xitter.cf/OriNewman/status/20977…
2 / Argent
updated to SilverScript v1, with docs explaining how contracts work together in one transaction.
github.com/argent-lang/argen…
3 / DAGKnight
a new consensus protocol for Kaspa that adapts to network delays. devs merged more code this week to prepare for testnet. still in development.
github.com/kaspanet/rusty-ka…
4 / KCC12
@asaefstroem submitted a proposal so apps can connect to different browser wallets the same way. less separate hookup work for devs. currently under review.
github.com/kaspanet/kccs/pul…
5 / Argent/KCC20 workshop
@manyfest_ posted workshop #2, showing a KCC20 borrow transfer. recording if you want to see the contracts being put together.
xitter.cf/manyfest_/status/20976…
6 / Python SDK
new test release for devs building with Python, updated for SilverScript v1. still a release candidate, so a few things may need yelling at.

think i missed something? good, lmk

Finally, Silverscript v1 is out [Link in the reply]. This completes the journey we started eight months ago with Toccata — it's finally possible to write human- (and AI-) readable smart contracts on Kaspa.
This language started simply as "CashScript with loops", but eventually grew into a full-fledged smart contract language capable of expressing complex, stateful contracts. It's always fun to look back at the first token mechanism @IzioDev and I worked on using raw opcodes, which took thousands of lines of code, and see the same thing implemented in just 60 easy-to-read lines of Silverscript.
I'm excited to explore the possibilities of UTXO programmability together with the Kaspa community, and this is only the beginning - Silverscript will evolve, Argent will add higher layers of abstractions, and I'm sure more people will find their own way of extending this new ecosystem.

$KCOM belongs where the KaspaCom ecosystem is built: on Kaspa.
Launching natively as a KCC20 puts our ecosystem utility token directly on Kaspa L1.
One ecosystem. One native token.
Built for KaspaCom. Native to Kaspa. ⚡️

kaspa:native is the most perfect form of money ever created.
Ideal money is capital + currency.
Meaning Store of Value + Medium of Exchange.
This is impossible to achieve on a Fiat standard because of inflation.
To be SoV money has to outpace inflation.
If it outpaces inflation you hold it, not spend it. Making it a bad MoE.
This is what I call the direction dilemma, and is the real reason why perfect money can only exist off a Fiat standard.
Kaspa is great currency due to fast/cheap transaction speed, divisibility, scalability, etc. but also has store of value properties as a scarce energy backed asset.
Kaspa is Bitcoin if it never stopped upgrading.
