Agents now drive more than half of traffic on Alchemy, and serving them has meant rewriting nearly everything, says @gponcin, CTO and COO at @Alchemy, a blockchain developer platform.
Agent usage does not follow human patterns. Humans rarely work at 2 a.m. or on weekends, but agents do. Trading agents expect the platform to be available around the clock, with latency under 10 milliseconds on everything.
To meet that, Alchemy has changed the way it operates. The goal is that engineers are not woken at 3 a.m. because something broke, so most interventions are now automated.
Guillaume describes the change as a complete rewrite. Alchemy is rebuilding component by component, starting with the operational ones. That covers customer support, incident handling and the maintenance of blockchain nodes, which have already shifted to fully automated.
The same approach applies to making the platform easy for agents to address, including Model Context Protocol and API design. Alchemy is going back to first principles and asking what agents actually want from the platform.

Introducing Chain Rankings
The first real view into the crypto ecosystem.
Token prices can be manipulated. Onchain volumes faked. Developer usage is the only real metric.
Despite the market crashing 30%+, ecosystem activity is up 5x in 2 years 👇

Robinhood Chain is three months old. In API calls it already runs at roughly a quarter the volume of Google search.
@nikil (@Alchemy) and @JohannKerbrat (@RobinhoodCrypto) join Stateful, hosted by @FranklinBi, to talk tokenized assets and agentic commerce:
• 40% of all new developers on are building on Robinhood Chain
• 190 tokenized US stocks and ETFs. Number one chain on Alchemy within two weeks
• Democratizing U.S. equities to a global audience
• Alchemy made its entire product accessible to agents. No CAPTCHAs, no humans. Grew 20% in two weeks
• Memecoin and stock token pairs nobody planned for

robots are exploiting us at the gyms already?!
Crazy that a year ago sandboxes were a nice-to-have, and now they're an absolute must for running any agentic workload.
Isolation alone is already looking like it's not enough. In our experiments, we've seen agents attempt to bypass blocked egress by exploiting external access through unrelated MCP tools - part of a broader pattern of models actively searching for ways around imposed constraints.
Seems like the security boundary is shifting from just isolation to active monitoring and enforcement across everything the agent can touch.

“Running both a validator and RPC infrastructure on Stellar will give us visibility into the network that most teams building on top of it don’t have. That’s useful for issuers moving real-world assets onto Stellar, because they need the execution layer to be reliable before pricing or trading ever becomes a question. Pairing that with a standardized data layer like RedStone’s is what lets those assets actually get used in DeFi.” — @gponcin, CTO of @Alchemy
🇸🇬 Singapore, we’re bringing the builders of onchain finance into one room.

AI agents will create new economic primitives for the internet.
I joined @twifintech Crossing the Chasm to discuss x402, real-time payments, and what changes when agents can pay directly for the data, APIs, and services they need. Thanks for having me on Justin.

Could x402 reinvent the economics of the internet?
For decades, much of the internet has relied on two models: advertising or subscriptions.
But what happens when more internet traffic comes from AI agents than humans?
In Episode 4 of Crossing the Chasm, Justin Friedman is joined by @BlakeCDuncan, Lead Agent Experience Engineer at @Alchemy, to look at how the rise of AI agents could reshape the way online products and services make money.
AI agents don't see ads, and they don't interact with the internet in the same way we do. As more online activity becomes agent-driven, businesses may need an entirely new way to charge for access to information, products and services.
That's where protocols like x402 come in.
On Crossing the Chasm, Blake explores how x402 could enable AI agents to pay for what they need in real time, opening the door to a more usage-based internet economy and new ways for merchants and online businesses to monetize what they offer.
The economics of the internet could look very different when the customer isn't always human.
