🚨 Do you understand what happened in the last 48 hours.. > PHP, the code behind 69% of all websites, got 2 holes rated 9.2 out of 10, and the US, the UK and Japan told site owners to patch or go OFFLINE.. 4 days after hackers had already started trying the flaw.. > Japan's Prime Minister posted the request late at night.. the Finance and Health ministries pulled pages, MUFG Bank and JR West went into emergency maintenance, and Onamae shut ALL Desktop Cloud plans after malware hit up to 26,739 customer servers.. > India's eMudhra was caught with 8 intermediate certificate keys so weak one of them was literally the number 4.. the 60,000,000+ certificates it has issued can't be trusted.. > GitLab disclosed a 10.0 severity hole in every version since 2014.. the maximum score there is.. > criminals were caught using a literal AI hacking tool on 1,200+ sites.. it broke into more than 100 companies including John Deere and Cummins.. > LiteLLM, an AI tool with about 23,000,000 downloads a week, was secretly poisoned with a password stealer.. the bad version sat on PyPI for about 2 hours.. > State Bank of India, the country's biggest bank, confirmed 3,897 customer records on the dark web.. > WIRED now calls the PHP flaw "broadly exploited".. nearly 55,000,000 web properties still run PHP.. every single government on this list told PHP site owners the same thing within the last 48 hours.. patch it or take it offline.. all of this.. 48 hours.. if you're not following me you're finding out about this 48 hours late from someone who read my post.. it's only getting crazier from here..

Why is the night sky dark if the universe is filled with stars? This is the essence of Olbers’ paradox. If the universe were infinite, eternal, static, and uniformly filled with stars, every direction we looked should eventually end at a star, making the entire sky as bright as a stellar surface. But the universe has a finite age, and it is expanding. Light from extremely distant stars and galaxies has not had enough time to reach us. And as the universe expands, that ancient light is redshifted to longer wavelengths, often far beyond what human eyes can see. So the darkness of the night sky isn’t simply empty space. It is a reminder that we are seeing a universe with a finite history, and that much of its light is still traveling toward us. 🌌

Claude has discovered a previously unknown enzyme system hidden in the DNA of bacteriophages. Beside the enzyme’s gene sits a long array of repeating DNA—a structure that looks somewhat similar to CRISPR. We don’t yet understand what this system does, but only a handful of known systems share its features, and all of them are able to cut, copy, and paste DNA. Historically, the discovery of such programmable systems has helped revolutionize medicine. CRISPR, for instance, is now the foundation of genetic medicines. But it will take much more work to learn what this system does, and whether it can be put to similar use. Read more: anthropic.com/news/claude-di…

Someone borrowed $75 million against a token with $11,000 of daily trading volume, and the only way to stop him was switching an entire blockchain OFF The token is TONIC, the governance token of Tectonic, the biggest lending protocol on the Cronos chain Tectonic accepted it as collateral. The whole token had $1.34 million of liquidity behind it He bought into that shallow pool for 20 minutes until TONIC traded 100 times higher than where it started The oracle read the new price and updated his collateral His pile was suddenly worth $375 million on paper He borrowed against it and left with $54 million in USDC, $45 million in USDT, 95 wrapped Bitcoin, and 39 million CRO Tectonic's own documentation warns that low-liquidity assets are vulnerable to exactly this The 100 validators who run Cronos stopped producing blocks. Every transfer and every smart contract on the chain froze $6 million had already crossed to Ethereum. $60 million is sitting in his wallet on a blockchain that isn't running The broken pricing also liquidated 752 ordinary users and took $8.71 million from people whose loans were healthy an hour earlier Tectonic was 46% of all the money in Cronos DeFi CRO closed the day up 5% Same trick that took $100 million out of Mango Markets in 2022 Nobody has said when Cronos comes back on, or what happens to his $60 million when it does A token nobody was trading took an entire blockchain offline I get why they hit the switch. Sixty million was walking out the door and they had a button. But a chain a hundred people can pause in a few minutes was never the thing it was sold as, and everybody with money on it found that out on a Sunday.

It's 2027. The AI bubble has popped. The US dollar has bust. It's 500 dollars to buy a burger and it makes you immediately have diarrhea. The sun has been renamed America.
