hey! i wanted to bring attention to the fact that squidgeworld has explicitly declared they will allow ai-generated artwork on its platform, while treating ai-generated writing differently, & has offered this as their justification. thought this was worth making people aware of!

i hate that visual art is being treated like some kind of poor man’s job and writing is some prestigious profession that only the intellectuals can do. no one should be using ai to do any sort of art, one thing isn’t above the other. ban ai on your site but ban ALL of it.

well… it kind of is. fanfiction as a whole is very rarely “transformative.” using the characters, settings, and even plot points of an original work isn’t protected by copyright laws, especially not fair use laws. you’d have to turn your fanfiction into original fiction-
