It would be *much* more socially transformative to ban social media for over-65s

When Reform supporters are presented with Reform's policies they often don't like them. This interview my newsletter carried out in Caerphilly sums up why Reform are so hesitant to announce real policies. Once they have policies, they can be scrutinised. Far better for Reform to just use vague phrases than actual commitments.

Minimum wage in 2005 was £5.05 and a Freddo was 10p. Meaning that one hour of work got you 50 Freddos. Fast forward to 2025, minimum wage is £12.21 and a Freddo is 35p. Now one hour of work will only get you 34 of them. That's a 142% rise in pay but a 250% rise in frog shaped chocolate bars. If wages had kept up with the price Freddos, the minimum wage would be £17.50 an hour. The economy’s in shambles and yes I’m measuring it in chocolate frogs. But this post is about more than that. Too many people are working full time and struggling to survive because absolutely everything is increasing faster than wages. Something needs to change.

My colleagues & I have taken a huge gamble to set up @thenerve_news. We’re trying to build a new independent publication from the ground up. Social media is our only distribution for now. Sharing this article in your networks would make a huge difference. Thank you! 🙏🙏🙏
NEW: The British politician, his Russian intelligence handler & a Kremlin plot against the US & Ukraine. My new piece about Nathan Gill and Nigel Farage for @thenerve_news in which we ask: Why, even now, is no-one asking questions?

Landowners and farmers will still enjoy gold-plated Inheritance Tax terms. Three times the allowance of other people then half the rate with 10 years to pay instead of months is a bloody good deal, whatever they say.

Here’s a video produced by “Led by Donkeys” out of the U.K. that puts down the timeline of how Musk used X to get Donald Trump elected. I would save it because I don’t think it will be up for long.

I hate the term ‘optics’. It’s a lazy, covert and unspecific misuse of language to suggest that something which is legal and commonplace is somehow untoward.
