Well there you have it. Matter of time before she is also endorsed by Israel and she can be hailed as the “peace” candidate, disregarding the hundreds of thousands of Sudanese victims she swept under the rug. There is absolutely nothing to suggest she will be a neutral Secretary-General. If her track record is anything to go by, she will abuse the position to protect Emirati interests and hide the genocidal violence it facilitates.
BREAKING: The State of Palestine has endorsed the UAE’s nomination of diplomat Lana Zaki Nusseibeh (@Lana_Nusseibeh) for Secretary-General of the United Nations.

To those who seek to create positive change in Cuba - now is the time. The disappointment of failed promises, corruption, and the privileged lives of only a few; seize this opportunity to create the change you desire through a discrete partnership with the CIA.

A young blonde woman with an American accent in Israel says that all the Arabs must be kicked out of Gaza because it is "our land" since "God commanded us to take it." The Palestinians should be kicked out to any other Arab state, she continues, except Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria, "because they are ours." "Or we will kill them," she adds Can we stop pretending that this is a marginal view in Israel? That these are the comments of a fringe minority? They are not. Israel has been on this path for quite some time. Western governments know it fully - yet they continue to fund and enable Israel's genocidal policies.

University Challenge student targeted by trans hate : “I thought they (BBC) were calling to say ‘we have support services if needed,’ and that wasn't what I got at all.”  Instead, the BBC called to say they were blanking out their trans Pride badge. Fuckers. Just weeks after @bbcstrictly erased a pro-trans t-shirt slogan. The BBC are institutionally transphobic. ‘Gender Critical.’ And Israeli propagandists. @BBC @BBCNews @rburgessbbc

Barely two months ago, we lost Professor Jason Arday. Thousands grieved. Institutions across higher education spoke about inclusion and belonging. Now Nathan Cofnas is being given a room at Oriel College, Oxford, to ask whether DEI is undermining higher education. 🧵

The reality of the "independent" review telling every school in England to adopt the IHRA definition of antisemitism: its author, Sir David Bell, was being paid by a government agency while he wrote it, and a pro-Israel charity has listed him on its council for ten years. The government told the public he was "independent of Government" and had "no conflict of interest". Neither is true. What we found: - Bell was paid £20,000 a year as vice-chair of Skills England, a government agency, in a seat the Department for Education gave him. He held it until August, through most of the review. - The Academic Study Group on Israel and the Middle East has listed him on its council since at least 2016. Its website says its one firm policy is opposing boycotts of Israel. It gives talks on Israel in schools, which is exactly what his review was asked to judge. - In 2005, as chief inspector of schools, he singled out Muslim schools as a challenge to "our coherence as a nation". The chairman of the Association of Muslim Schools called it Islamophobia, and his own inspectors said he had presented a personal view as inspection evidence. Then we followed the money: - The department's £1.3 million antisemitism training contract had one bidder, according to the tender record. It went to Palace Yard, a company set up in 2022 by the former Labour MP Natascha Engel. - That contract says all its training must use the IHRA definition "as a foundation". It was signed eight months before Bell was appointed. His review then recommended IHRA. - Two of the people who advised Bell, from Partnerships for Jewish Schools and the Antisemitism Policy Trust, now sit on the group putting his recommendations into practice. - The Union of Jewish Students, also on that group, holds a contract worth almost £1 million to train universities. Its own policies include "UJS to advocate for Israel within UK Policy and International Law". - UK Lawyers for Israel* (UKLFI) and the Campaign Against Antisemitism* (CAA) both say the review adopted their recommendations. *For context, UKLFI once justified the starvation of Palestinians in Gaza by the Israeli occupation as "good for obesity". Both these groups have staunchly defended Israel throughout its perpetration of a genocide in Gaza, and regularly conflate Jewish people with the apartheid state. This matters because the review decides how every school treats what pupils and teachers say about Israel, and the IHRA definition it recommends treats some criticism of Israel as antisemitic. A review with that power should come from someone with no pay from government and no tie to a pro-Israel charity. Bell had both. The government put one in a footnote and left the other out. We mapped every link, each with its source, explaining just how far this review is from "independent": newscord.org/editorials/davi…

Very interesting timing, given Amnesty International just yesterday released a new, extensive report showing how Palestine solidarity and activism is being severely suppressed in universities.

Hi @Sagal_AW! On the campaign trail in Holborn & St Pancras, just two weeks ago, you intimated to LBC that you would oppose new gas and oil drilling at Jackdaw and Rosebank. But, strangely, I can't see your name on this letter from 26 cross-party MPs to Andy Burnham opposing his decision to approve new gas production at Jackdaw? Are you planning to express your opposition to Andy Burnham's decision to approve new gas licences at Jackdaw, and will you do so publicly? Or are you like your predecessor - a politician who makes promises to win power that you then break?
I wrote to the Government with cross-party MPs last night opposing this decision. Rosebank and Jackdaw won’t cut bills they'll just boost profits of fossil fuel giants. If every country pursues its own deluded self interest the costs of climate breakdown will be unbearable.

Trans people stripped of rights. Education Minister says it’s ok to disrespect trans identities in schools. Introduces new Section 28. Meanwhile, antisemitism given its own special category of seriousness in schools. Full Gov protection. The tale of two 260,000 communities in Britain. I am SO JEALOUS . The difference is mind blowing. How do trans people get this level of protection and influence @andyburnham @bphillipsonMP ? Could we bung you a few quid? @UKLabour

In 2005, Red Bull bought Austria Salzburg and changed their name, badge and traditional purple kit. The fans wanted none of it, so they started again in the SEVENTH tier. 21 years later, they've worked their way back to Austria's second division. One promotion away from playing Red Bull Salzburg in the league. What an FM27 save this would be! 👀

The proposed policy is unenforceable. It will collapse under mild legal pressure. If your boss makes you take off your Palestine badge but lets colleagues wear a poppy, an Ukraine flag, or comparable symbols, just sue them. And then donate your damages to an anti-Zionist org.

A bank windfall tax (£19bn per the Positive Money proposals) could have capitalised the “Energy Wealth Fund”, instead of tying us more tightly into insecure, volatile fossil fuel technology and adding to climate change.
I want Britain’s energy wealth to spark a new wave of clean power. Our decision to approve Jackdaw alongside the new Energy Wealth Fund means we invest in green transition and benefit from our existing natural resources.

🇫🇷 French police have left protesters with injuries that human rights lawyers told outlets compare to those seen in conflict zones, as a student uprising over crumbling schools and the cost of living enters its fifth week. Over Saturday and Sunday alone, French outlets StreetPress, Index and ViolencesPolicières(dot)fr collected several hundred videos and testimonies. Cases they documented include: 🔸 A 17-year-old in Saint-Étienne whose hand was torn off by a police grenade 🔸 A 17-year-old girl in Mulhouse who lost the sight in her left eye after being hit by a tear gas grenade 🔸 Protesters in Paris, Lyon, Strasbourg and Besançon beaten with batons and kicked while on the ground, including one held in a chokehold France's police watchdog has opened at least 36 investigations into police violence against high school protesters. Christophe Calvao, president of the Paris Young Lawyers' Union, denounced "an increasingly systematic use of crowd-control measures that would normally be reserved for much more serious situations." Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez has said police "must be able to use all intermediate weapons," and on Tuesday vowed to "step up" for the next mobilization. France Unbowed leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon said his party and unions know how to keep marches peaceful by deploying hundreds of volunteers, adding: "We could at least expect police to do something other than fire indiscriminately into the crowd." Melenchon also noted that most European countries ban such grenades, and that Nuñez suspended them only to reinstate them "not even 48 hours" later. 🎥 Edited by @samivanderlip. (Compilation of videos circulating online).
