NEWS RELEASE  Alabama Man Arrested in Starkville, Held for Extradition October 4, 2026   The Starkville Police Department arrested Stephen Shirley (41, West Blocton, Alabama) and charged him with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. Shirley was approached by officers throughout the interaction he refused to identify himself. During the investigation, officers learned Shirley is a registered sex offender and found he was wanted in Alabama for second-degree sodomy originating from Jefferson County, Alabama.   Stephen Shirley is being held at the Oktibbeha County Jail pending extradition to Alabama.   We would like to thank the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Alabama for their assistance in this case.   Anyone with information about this incident or other criminal activity is encouraged to contact the Starkville Police Department at 662-323-4131, Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 800-530-7151, or submit an anonymous tip through our website.
