I can't stop thinking about 1 sentence in today's UN report regarding Israel's genocide in Gaza.
"Israeli security forces shot at & killed civilians, including children who were holding makeshift white flags. Some children, including toddlers, were shot in the head by snipers.”

Did you know that sitting members of Congress calling into employers and demanding that they fire people for speaking their mind is a crime?
Especially if they act in their official capacity, which is what representative Randy Fine is doing, as well as other members of Congress.
The First Amendment protects citizens from government retaliation for their speech, including political speech. This protection is relevant because a sitting member of Congress is a government official.
If the person works for a public entity, like a state university or government agency, the First Amendment provides strong protection against termination for political speech.
The public employee would likely have a strong case for unlawful retaliation.
If you work for a private company though, most likely, you can only sue the Congress person.
So if you have lost your job due to a member of the government, at any level, calling your employer because they disagree with what you say, you can sue both the Congress member and your former employer.
KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.
Happy Monday !

The reports from Gaza are of an unprecedented level of bombing tonight. Like nothing seen before in history. Israelis have been panicking, thinking the explosions are nearby, due to their extreme loudness. Meanwhile, Israel and Trump have been preparing the Israeli public for the possible death of hostages, as they know they may not survive this unholy barrage.
There are roughly 750,000 people in Gaza City right now. Who knows what they are enduring right now.

This was the entire point of targeting and exterminating journalists, from day one. Palestinian journalists have been our only connection to what’s happening on the ground; they have been our only connection to the truth and scope of Israeli war crimes and campaign of annihilation.
By picking them off one by one - over two years - it’s become harder and harder for us to fully know the breadth of US-backed Israeli crimes.
I really don’t know what’s left to say or what could even be said that’s not being screamed over and over again.

There aren't 65 million immigrants in the country. But there are 65 million Latinos. This was never about immigrants. This is about white nationalism.

Remember this the next time those in power claim they can't house the homeless, feed the starving or provide medical care to the poor
They can, they don't want to

🚨 BREAKING: Trump now openly calling for the deportation of U.S. citizens.
“We have a lot of bad people … many of them were born in our country. I think we ought to get them the hell out of here too.”
That’s not immigration policy.
That’s fascism with a passport scanner.
He’s not talking about “illegals” anymore.
He’s talking about you. About anyone who disagrees. About journalists. Activists. Protesters. Citizens.

Stripping citizenship is the first step to death camps.
This is a pathway to legal non-personhood. It is a way to produce a legal void into which people can be dropped and then killed.
Is this hyperbole? No. It is at the heart of Arendt’s insistence on a right to have rights.
