💜 Creative Fibro — Fibromyalgia, spoonie life & creativity
💻 Digital World — tech, digital organisation & genealogy
Plus the occasional personal thought, observation or rabbit hole along the way.
This week is the first time this season I have properly felt cold on consecutive days. Frustratingly my limbs are cold but my core is hot so layering is tricky. I need some cardigan sleeves I think 🤔 #Fibromyalgia
Sometimes having enough energy to want to do something and having enough energy to actually do it are two very different things. 💜
That gap can be one of the most frustrating parts of living with Fibromyalgia.

Creativity still counts when it happens slowly, in short bursts or with plenty of unfinished projects in between. 🎨
A few minutes making something is still creative time, even if the project takes weeks to finish.

Fibromyalgia changed how I create, but it didn’t take creativity out of my life. I’ve learnt to adapt my tools, pace the hobbies I enjoy and work with Fibro Fog rather than against it.

By mid-October, the colder days and darker evenings are definitely making themselves known. 🍂
I’m trying to adjust with the season rather than expect my energy and routines to stay exactly the same.

One thing that makes creativity easier on lower-energy days is removing as many barriers as possible. 🌿
Keeping a simple project or supplies somewhere easy to reach can make the difference between “I’d like to do something” and actually starting.

“I’m not creative. I can’t draw.”
But creativity is much bigger than artistic talent. It can show up in how we solve problems, enjoy hobbies and adapt everyday life.

Apart from pain and fatigue, which Fibromyalgia symptom has the biggest effect on your everyday life? 💜
For me, it’s often surprising how much the less obvious symptoms can interfere with an otherwise ordinary day.
#Fibromyalgia
One of the difficult things about living with Fibromyalgia is working out what belongs to Fibro, what might be connected to it, and what is something else entirely. 💜
Sometimes it feels like a constant game of symptom detective.
#Fibromyalgia
Symptom, overlapping condition, or something separate? With Fibromyalgia, the answer isn't always obvious.
I’ve looked at some of the problems I experience alongside Fibro and what the research actually says.

Fibromyalgia can explain a lot, but I try not to put every new symptom straight into the Fibro basket.
Sometimes it is Fibro. Sometimes it’s something else entirely, and new or changing symptoms are still worth paying attention to.
#Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia rarely seems to travel alone. IBS, headaches, sweating, depression, itching and more can all become part of the picture.
I’ve refreshed my guide to associated symptoms and conditions:

October feels like autumn has properly arrived. 🍂
The colours are richer, the air is cooler and the evenings are drawing in.
I love noticing the changes without feeling I need to turn the season into a list of things I ought to be doing. #Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia symptoms don’t always arrive neatly one at a time.
Pain, fatigue, brain fog, poor sleep and other symptoms can overlap — and that combination can be just as difficult as any one symptom on its own.

Unfinished plans don’t become failures just because the calendar moves on.
If September didn’t go how you hoped, you can carry things forward, change them, or let them go. 🌿
Fibromyalgia is more than widespread pain.
It can affect sleep, thinking, energy, temperature regulation and much more.
My new post looks at the wide range of symptoms that can come with Fibromyalgia.

What’s one Fibromyalgia symptom you wish other people understood better?
Not necessarily the most painful one — just the one you think is most often misunderstood. 💜
Invisible symptoms can still shape an entire day.
Pain, fatigue, brain fog and sensory overload may not be obvious from the outside, but they can affect every decision you make. 💜
