During the chase, one suspect managed to flee on foot, while the second suspect ran into a corner. According to the vigilantes, when they cornered the suspect, he used supernatural powers/witchcraft (juju) to transform himself into a goat to evade arrest. The vigilantes caught the goat and handed it over to the local police station as the "transformed" armed robber. The police officers at the station took the goat into custody. The story quickly leaked to local journalists, and media outlets (including the BBC and local newspapers) descended on the station to take photos of the goat in detention.
