Why are people asking for gem cash-out back @veve_official ?
➡️Extra steps & complexity. With Gems, the user sold an NFT for Gems & withdrew those Gems to fiat. With OMI, the user receives a crypto token & then has to convert/sell the OMI, involving a wallet or exchange.
➡️ Price volatility. Gems were designed around $1 = 1 Gem. OMI fluctuates. If OMI’s price moves between receiving it & selling it, the user’s eventual dollar proceeds can change.
➡️ Crypto knowledge. A mainstream collector who understands “sell my collectible and withdraw $500” may not understand wallets, tokens, exchanges, network transfers, or trading pairs. Or trust crypto. Or trust OMI. Or trust exchange transfers. Or want to do it. That’s additional friction. I wouldn’t think most comic collectors want to learn crypto or be involved with crypto.
➡️ Tax/accounting complexity. Receiving and disposing of a crypto token can potentially create additional recordkeeping considerations compared with a straightforward fiat deposit and withdrawal.
Again, why not offer both?

It was quite a bit of back and forth, all in vain: DC Comics did not come to an agreement for a new licensing deal with CD.
The old license can however be "milked dry". No new DC DiCo on Candy as per CEO.
