58–61 MPH doesn’t sound that fast…
Until it’s coming from 33 feet. 😳⚾️
That’s roughly a 106–112 MPH reaction-time equivalent from 60’6”.
Want to train for velocity?
Create time at the plate?
Trevor Testerman showing how it’s done. He’s not the ‘26 D3 National POY by accident.
He doesn’t see this velocity at the D3 level but can he hit it…absolutely!
The hitter has to be ready EARLY at pitch release, make a decision and get the barrel there.

Pretty cool moment and one proud family! ❤️
Our daughter in law Lauren was surprised at school by ESPN and the College Football Playoff Foundation with the Extra Yard for Teachers Award. 🏈
She puts so much into her students and truly cares about making a difference. It’s pretty special to see her recognized for something those of us who know her already know.
Well deserved, Lauren! We’re all very proud of you!
Back at it with D3‘26 National POY @Testerman2022
Using @teacherman1986 FlickIt Bat
Provides Immediate feedback on barrel speed, direction and a clean rearward launch into the zone..an essential tool with all my hitters.
🔊 Volume up.
The long-standing debate: When should the barrel enter the zone?
Are you a “short to the ball” hitter?
Or are you trying to create depth behind the ball and get the barrel working in the zone earlier?
There’s more than one way to hit. But watch the video and ask yourself:
Which move is more efficient? Which gives the barrel more time in the zone?
As velocity increases, your margin for error gets smaller. Giving yourself more time and space to make contact becomes that much more important.
Is this the ONLY thing that matters? Of course not.
But if you’re trying to compete against high-level velocity, where and when your barrel enters the zone matters…a lot.

Great being able to see @SlippinOnButter again!
I’ve known this kid since he was a sophomore in high school, and one thing has never changed..…he’s an absolute grinder.
Undersized, they said.
Won’t play at a high level, they said.
Unrecruited out of high school.
Walked on at Western Carolina → won the SS job and played his tail off.
Transferred to NC State → won the SS job and did it again.
Drafted in the 12th round.
And now? AAA. 🔥
Nothing handed to him. Just kept working, kept competing, kept proving people wrong.
“Hold my beer… I’ll show you.” 😂
Love seeing guys like this win.
And he’s not done yet. Just the beginning. 📈⚾️
Honored to represent North Carolina at the 2026 Special Education Legislative Summit (SELS) in Washington, D.C., alongside education leaders and advocates committed to strengthening outcomes for students with disabilities.
Meeting with members of Congress and their staff on Capitol Hill provided an important opportunity to discuss the critical need for sustained investment in special education, support for educators, and policies that ensure every student has access to the services they need to succeed.
Grateful to stand alongside so many dedicated professionals working to strengthen public education and create greater opportunities for students and families.

Conditions may not be “ideal” but if you love what you do and serious about getting better..you’ll find a way.
Save the excuses and get after it!
Atta boy @suavegabe1
Couple swings training in Dominican Republic for the summer🇩🇴
@Heath_McKay1 @cquez10 @coach_mowen @CCSBaseball10
‘27 @TylerNewell27 (SS) | Sun Valley HS (NC) put together a heck of a WWBA, hitting .429 and launching this 3-run 💣.
He’s made some outstanding swing adjustments. Even though this breaking ball fooled him a bit, he’s got enough juice to leave the yard anyway. 👀🔥

Great start to the WWBA for @JacobSitzer21 (‘27 Catcher)
Going 2-2 with a 2R HR.
@uncommittedBBs @PG_Tourney
’27 @JacobSitzer21 (C, Weddington HS) putting in the work and making some impressive adjustments as he gears up for an important recruiting summer.
Physical catcher with a strong foundation, a great work ethic, and plenty of upside. Excited to watch him turn heads and have a big summer on the showcase circuit. 🔥⚾️

CE athletes… You have to understand this if you want to play at the next level.
Young players, this is the vast majority of the college coaching mindset.
Young players, understand this:
College athletics isn't a hobby. For coaches, it's their livelihood. Their job is to be competitive and win, and they'll play the best prepared players. Period.
You're not owed playing time, a lineup spot, or opportunities.
I've seen talented players coast through high school on athleticism and praise, only to get exposed in college because they never learned how to struggle, adapt, and compete.
The players who last are the ones who:
• Work
• Fail
• Adjust
• Work more
• Earn opportunities
• Repeat
Success is built through adversity, not comfort.
Before chasing college athletics, ask yourself:
"Am I willing to do whatever it takes to help my team win?"
"Am I the type of player a coach would stake his career on?"
If the answer is YES,that’s great.
Get back to work, prepare and don’t stop.
Chase your dreams.
Get after it!
Good luck.

What stood out to me in this post was the word “hobby.” College sports go well beyond loving the game; it’s about producing, competing, & contributing to your team’s success every day. Opportunities will go to the ones who consistently help their team win.

Pt 3
Pre-draft prep is underway. 🔥
D3 National Player of the Year Trevor Testerman putting in the work as he prepares for upcoming pre-draft workouts.
The goal isn’t to impress scouts with one swing, it’s to build a swing that shows up every day.
Went through a series of drills to sharpen the tools and cleanup the details.
- Movement Isolation (tilt)
- Command drills (coil, in/out)
- Ready at release
- Short distance machine for launch quicknes
Every rep matters. Every swing has a purpose.

@JacobSitzer21 has been taking lessons with @cquez10 teaching him to let the ball travel deeper in the zone. Look how deep this ball get and then look at what he does with it, that’s power!
The work is paying off. @JacobSitzer21 has been committed to improving in every session we’ve had together and is already making noticeable gains.
Tough, coachable catcher who will trend upward. Excited to see where the extra reps take him this summer. ⚾️💪
Scout weekend @ElonBaseball
