It's kind of nuts to live in a country where you can't sue police for wrecking your home without probable cause but they can sue you for filming them doing it.

We interrupt the news about the Monterey Park mass shooting to cover the Half Moon Bay mass shooting. Because we have lost our fucking minds. The Second Amendment, like slavery and subjugation of women, was one of our founders’ worst 18th century ideas. Repeal it.

Like writing prose, there’s a deep proficiency in writing good code. Two implementations with no difference in run-time functionality can be vastly different. For good engineers, runtime functionality and perf is table stakes, and the differentiator comes from maintainability.

Billionaires have such great faith in the ability of other billionaires
What's obvious to basically everyone in the industry but is probably surprising to everyone else is that twitter is a harder problem than getting a rocket to the moon. One of these problems only involves physics, the other involves humans.

If you told the Musk/Twitter story but replaced Elon with Trump, it might actually be more believable
NEW: Twitter just alerted employees that effective immediately, all office buildings are temporarily closed and badge access is suspended. No details given as to why.
So, did anyone else read that as "Twitter 2.0 is going to be written solely by engineers who aren't good enough to get a job at a company that doesn't expect moronic working hours & shitty work/life balance"? Or was it just me?

“Work long hours at high intensity” proves that he knows nothing about software engineering (or work in general for that matter)

I find this extremely hard to believe. Can’t wait to hear the Tesla/SpaceX engineers refute it.

As an engineer at Twitter, I can confirm that Elon Musk doesn’t understand anything about our website, or coding in general. Not gonna lie, we laugh REALLY hard about it behind his back. We’ve been calling him “the CEO,” but it stands for Code Efficiency 0.

"diana thirst" (@rlycalm) is a satirical account. "A person claiming to be a Twitter engineer ... who goes by Diana Thirst on Twitter, is a comedian who has been known to post similarly outlandish things before ..." dailydot.com/debug/twitter-… In their own words: "I write satire!" twitter.com/rlycalm/status…
