A coworker commented "I love your commits" on my PR, and I felt really seen and appreciated as a professional engineer 😇
And then I realized they're talking about my branch's funny commit messages 🤦♂️
2026 B.B.C
Today we’re introducing Base Code.
It’s an early preview of how we think software will be built in the future.
It’s a product that encapsulates everything we’ve learnt from:
- How our users are building software.
- How we’re building internally, scaling to hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue while keeping our engineering team very small and focused.
Here are some of the principles behind it, which align with how we at @Base44 think about the future of software engineering:
Cloud:
- Software will move past local desktop environments (where current tools are widely used) and move to the cloud.
- Moving everything to the cloud is not easy. Setting up dev environments with databases, infra components, services, mock data, etc. is easier said than done.
- Base Code first scans your code repo and sets up everything - every infra component (databases, Redis, etc.) - in the cloud. It runs nonstop until your preview environment is ready.
- From an enterprise standpoint, it’s also the logical thing to do: a centralized, governed dev environment instead of handing out keys and secrets to all team members.
- Once Base Code does that, EVERY team member can work in this environment. No more syncing local environments.
Internally, this (cloud) is one of the main things that enabled us to move so fast.
Collaboration:
- Once everything is in the cloud, everybody can write software from anywhere (any browser, your phone, WhatsApp / iMessage coming soon).
- You can easily see what everyone is working on, where they’re at, and how they’re prompting - and jump to their environment in one click.
- We’ve built many great collaboration features from the ground up.
Loops, automations, software factories:
- A full, working cloud environment allows for many advanced capabilities we will unveil soon-think agents running in the browser and testing on every device and in any browser.
- It also allows the use of automations to build software factories-e.g., agents reading support tickets, identifying bugs to fix or features to develop, implementing the changes, verifying them in the cloud, and potentially pushing them.
And lastly, there’s a real advantage in being model agnostic.
--------------
As always, we’re releasing it very early. It’s far from perfect-but we’re looking for early feedback so we can build it together with our great community and make this vision a reality.
*We’re giving it away for free for 30 days*.
Give Base Code a try. Connect any GitHub repo, get your live preview, and share it with your team.
I’d love to hear what works and what doesn’t:

This week, 87 more schools joined our student program.
Insane numbers, thanks to the work of our incredible education team efforts
One story I like most is AJ’s - he's 14, one of the power users in our community, and he built learnsuperagents.base44.app, a walkthrough of what Superagents do and how to set one up.
Love what he did.
What kids can do today with their imagination is just incredible. And the impact it will make is big - we will have kids growing up without the prior limitations tech had up to not so long ago.
And im proud that @Base44 is a small part of this movement

Announcing Base 1’s benchmarks:
After rigorous testing in production, attached below Base 1 results for building beautiful, functional and complex web apps inside @Base44.
we released Base 1, our own model, a few weeks ago. we've been measuring it since.
For app building, there are no standard benchmarks. We A/B test in production with millions of builders, who we believe provide the best benchmark for measuring real value across real-world use cases.
Base 1 came close to Fable, while being 4.5x cheaper.
Base 1 has the lowest frustration of anything we've tested. below Sonnet 5, below Opus 4.8, below Fable 5.
Fable 5 still edges it on success rate, 76.4% to 74.9%.
i'll post the full benchmarks in the comments
This is true.
Last week I worked on something and I knew I f'd it up because we had to a have a face-to-face meeting for 6-people to discuss it.
We run with zero meetings a day - the one thing on the calendar is a 30 minute daily with the whole team.
i don't really believe in meetings. most of them could have been a Slack thread, and it would have been better and faster that way. so almost everything we do at @Base44 happens on Slack, out in the open, where the whole company can see it.
nothing hides behind a closed door, and nothing gets in the way of shipping because a few people needed to find a room.
so when someone books a meeting, my first question is always the same. why isn't this a Slack thread?
I knew Taiwan is a chip powerhouse, but I didn't realize how fast it grew, and how it's all thanks to a handful of true-believers.
Incredible story.

> Base44 is becoming a vertically integrated vibe coding platform, with its own database, its own backend, its own model, and the intelligence layer that connects all of it
This is great for our users, and as an added-bonus it makes it super interesting to work on 🤠
Replying to @MaorShlomo
@Base44 has always been about big engineering bets.
when base44 was one person, we built our own backend as a service to power every app on the platform, instead of leaning on a 3rd party (like the rest of the industry).
most people thought it was a mistake. owning that part of the stack became one of our biggest advantages. it let us tune the backend to exactly what builders need.
today we're making a bigger bet of the same kind. we're training our own model, which makes base44 the only vibe coding platform that owns the entire stack, from the model down to the infrastructure your app runs on.
the early signals from the model looks good, but not great yet. it's still early, so we're putting it out now to gather feedback and iterate with you, making it better with more traffic from more builders.
Base 1 is live in the model picker today.
For those with us in this journey and for our fantastic community - please go give it a try and build something with it.
in the next few weeks we'll publish a technical blog on how we built it and how it performs on the Basemark benchmark.

if you're not going to take the time to write your PR description yourself, why tf should I read it 🙃
The Superagent is a game-changer. So much easier to set up than claws. And reminders really work for a change.
Building on @Base44?
Know someone who is? Here's a few cool things we shipped recently that are worth knowing about

As a non-native English speaker this makes talking to Claude so frustrating.
My man, I have 10 other agents running and a deadline. Just speak like a human.
No one:
Claude Opus 4.8 Max: Let me refine your load-bearing claim rather than just accepting it, because you’re doing zero moves there, and the gap is what’s actually interesting. The one place I’d still push, because I think it matters: your message is wearing content-clothes, but the content isn’t actually *there*. The tell: it’s just an empty string. But the emptiness of the string IS its lack of content. Pull one, and the other goes inert. That’s the structural spine.
I asked Claude Code to use the Playground plugin and it had no idea what I'm talking about. Then I realized I was actually talking to Codex.
It felt like asking your spouse if they want to go back to the restaurant you both loved and realizing you went there with your mistress 😬
Love this!
If you're a teacher and you're using @Base44 I'd love to hear about your experience 👨🏫
Teachers weren't in our roadmap.
1.3 million education apps later, they're our biggest surprise. 870,000 of those builders are teachers, administrators, or students.
It makes sense when you think about it.
Teachers have the most specific, daily, unfixable problems. No edtech product fits the way their particular school runs. They've never had any way to build the exact tool they need.
A teacher doesn't need Salesforce. He needs a parent communication app that works exactly the way his school does.
A professor doesn't need a $10,000 LMS. She needs a course tracker that matches her grading system.
A recent post by @tibo_maker made me think about it, and honestly, this might be the use case I'm most proud of.

I joined this awesome team 3 months ago 🥳
We've got amazing capabilities coming up that I can't wait to share 🤐
I can finally share that base44 passed $100M ARR,
and is growing faster than ever.
This makes us one of the fastest companies to do so.
Definitely the fastest without VC backing :)
I'm taking some time to digest.
This milestone is surprisingly emotional for me, to be honest.
Maybe it's just reflecting on how crazy this past year has been.
I'll probably post some stuff i've learned from powering through it.
But for now -
I want to thank our users, for trusting us to turn their wildest ideas into reality.
For building their businesses on our platform.
And for pushing us to be a better product every day.
Base has by far the wildest,
most valuable community in this market,
and it’s not even close.
And lastly,
It's hard to state how much I'm grateful for the Base44 team.
Thank you for being there with me, in the trenches, on this generational run.
You're the most talented, hard working, sometimes funny people I've worked with.

5 million users later, It's still day 1 for base44
Can't wait to actually get through my @letterboxd watchlist!
