BTC dropped from $87K to $82K on $330M in liquidations — 70% of it longs getting flushed. Fear & Greed Index: still 74 ("Greed"), barely moved. Sentiment hasn't cracked. That's either complacency or conviction. Watch $84,800

To trade intraday directional views, I like a 0DTE broken wing flys for a couple of reasons. If I think we're oversold and due a bounce, that's a way to get leverage to the view for very little premium. It bleeds slowly enough that I can ride it for a couple of hours. I can also lean against any big gamma walls that might be on the 0DTE map, where dealer hedging would kick in. Say I spend $200 on it. If I'm wrong I'll lose $100 and stop out. If I'm right it can make multiples on what I paid. Far superior to trading futures in my view.

What does the nine-day window know about the rest of this week?

Which options looked expensive against their own history and which looked cheap social.saxo/sn1gbgb via @saxobank A nightly scan of 511 option underlyings ranked every implied volatility reading against its own past year. Twenty names sat at the extremes at Friday’s close, and the gap between the two ranking columns says more than the headline numbers do.

$SPCX: successful first orbital Starship launch. Stock -2.2%. IV 45.1% → 45.0%, basically flat. No vol reset, no vol reload — the market shrugged. Even a historic technical milestone doesn't always move the number you'd expect.

$SPCX implied vol: ~111% on IPO debut, 100%+ in the weeks after, now ~45% — a post-IPO low, right into today's first orbital Starship attempt. Float is only ~4%. A clean success doesn't fully resolve the uncertainty here — it just swaps "does it work" for "can they execute the cadence" (commercialization pace, Starlink V3 economics). A failure reprices risk straight up. A true binary catalyst usually compresses vol once it resolves. A structurally thin, still-maturing name usually doesn't stay compressed for long. Vol reset, or vol reload? We'll know soon.

Crazy but true. If 94% of the stocks in the S&P 500 went to ZERO leaving only the highest market cap stocks (top 6%) the index would still trade at 4400. The last time the S&P was at 4400 was 3 yrs ago in Sept of 2023.

Bond vol overtakes equity vol - Options Brief - 25 September 2026 social.saxo/eoevnln via @saxobank The Treasury volatility index closed above 100 for the first time in three months on Thursday. The S&P 500 closed flat, and the VIX did not move off its median.
108
What the option market priced for this week, against where Thursday left it. Expected move to today’s expiry, drawn around the Friday 18 September close with the nearest listed strike at each bound, and Thursday’s close marked. Volatility uses the 21 October expiry, so its band covers a month. Read from the chain at Friday’s close.
105
MOVE, the Treasury vol index, rose to ~105 on Thursday after 95 on Wednesday, when the US 10-year closed above 5.11%, a 2007 high. VIX closed at 15.67. Bonds price a rate shock, equities price business as usual. Both can be right for a while. Rarely forever.

Gold has so far managed the stress test from higher yields and a stronger dollar remarkably well, trading down around 2% on the week without challenging key support levels. Meanwhile, ETF holdings have continued to rise and are now approaching the February peak, when gold was trading roughly USD 1,000 higher. This resilience supports our view that while higher yields remain a near-term headwind for gold, they may simultaneously increase its longer-term appeal. Persistently elevated borrowing costs add pressure on governments, companies and other leveraged parts of the financial system, raising concerns about debt sustainability and financial stability. That may help explain why investors continue to seek protection through gold as an asset that sits outside the traditional financial system.
Gold is facing a major stress test amid a continued surge in US bond and real yields combine with renewed dollar strength. Yet ETF holdings and Chinese demand remain resilient, highlighting a market supported by investors seeking security and an alternative to traditional financial assets. social.saxo/t96ozbw via @saxobank

When vol spikes on the way down, the way I sometimes monetise a put hedge is by selling the strike below it. You own a put, the market's dropped, you're up on it. The obvious move is to sell it and take the money, but then you're naked again when you probably still want protection. Instead, sell the strike below and turn what you own into a put spread. You bring premium into the book, you keep protection down to that lower strike, and the put you've sold is the one that evaporates first on a bounce, so you can buy it back cheap and go back to owning the outright. What makes it work is the vol spike. That's what makes the lower strike juicy enough to bother with because it's setup to shrink fast on a bounce.

IBIT two ways to take part in bitcoins recovery without buying the shares social.saxo/ghjt4ir via @saxobank Bitcoin has recovered roughly 37% since mid-August, and IBIT’s options market is pricing calmer conditions than the last five weeks actually delivered. Two defined-risk structures show what an investor without a position can do about that, and what each one costs.
