Judging from the angry crowd at the #Huskies game: Fisch should go, Brown should be new QB1. #GoHuskies

I, for one, am stunned to see UW’s season is cooked when they spent an entire offseason watching their head coach flirt with every job opening and their starting QB was forced to return because the school was going to sue him into oblivion

Exactly. At the same time, news coverage has lagged because of scarcity of credible information, creating the vacuum that this stuff thrives in.
The Russian lab thing is a great example of how this platform now works. Click on one or two news posts and suddenly your feed is full of alarmist threads from people who have blue check marks and seem to have done a ted talk about something in the last 20 years. No time to tell if they are real but anxiety grows…

It’s a stunning strategic failure, especially considering the US could cut them off as a negotiating lever, forcing them to back up on Chinese models.
Leaving aside the arguments over the reasons why this has happened, it is shocking that Europe does not have a single frontier AI lab, nor even a near-frontier lab nor even an effort that could likely lead to building up a frontier lab in the future.

What's wild about this is the acoustics. Listen to the conversation at the end. AI's lack of acoustics has always been a way to identify synthetic audio, but no longer...

Very rare for the news media to collaborate at this level. A good response to stand for press freedom.
NEW: The presidential TV pool has been suspended as networks react to the White House's ongoing ban of CNN. That means, for now, that no major TV network will provide coverage of Trump's events, including today's appearances at the WH and his trip to the United Nations.

Yep. Social media has been out of control the last few days with wild rumors, speculation and fear-driven clickbait.
The RUMINT cycle is in high gear in Europe, so I'd warn people not to be taken by confirmation bias - when you're looking for signs of imminent miltary action, any miltary movement is going to look like it.

By design in a democracy, a free press holds those in power accountable — whether they like it or not.

One of the biggest stock market bonanzas in history is being driven by an industry in which several of its own employees and leading lights think that what's being built could cause complete human extinction.
Jacob is correct here—we really do earnestly believe AI could kill all humans! I personally think it is >10% within the next decade. I believe Anthropic is trying its best, but we do not yet have a plan to solve alignment for superintelligence and are not clearly on track to.
