Working at height in strong or gusty winds can increase the risk to roofers, homeowners and anyone nearby. Why does wind matter? Strong winds can: 🔹Make working at height unstable and dangerous 🔹Make ladders, scaffolding and roof access more difficult to use safely 🔹Cause roofing materials, tools and equipment to become airborne 🔹Make large sheets, membranes and insulation particularly difficult to handle 🔹Increase the risk of slips, trips and falls 🔹Create additional risks around scaffolding and temporary structures A competent roofing contractor should assess the conditions before and during the work and stop or postpone work where the conditions become unsafe.
