I'm sitting this morning wondering which BigTech cloud the "Lavendar" & "Where's Daddy?" systems are running on. What APIs they might be using. Which libraries they're likely calling
What work did my former colleagues, did I, did you contribute to that may now be enabling this?

For the first time since the Apollo era, new NASA science instruments and tech demonstrations are operating on the Moon after @Int_Machines' Odysseus lander arrived on the lunar surface: go.nasa.gov/4bNOUqS
The IM-1 mission team expects to receive images in the coming days.

ALT A fish-eye view of the Moon's Schomberger crater 125 miles (200 km) at about 6 miles (10 km) above the lunar surface. Taken by a color camera aboard Intuitive Machines' Odysseus lander, the Moon's grayish, rocky surface appears curved against the blackness of space. At bottom right, a portion of the lander can be seen. Credit: Intuitive Machines

Heritage Minister @PascaleStOnge_ gets it right on Bill S-210: it’s “fundamentally flawed.”
How else to describe a bill to mandate age verification technologies to access search or social media and create court ordered site blocking of lawful content?!

What is going on in Moscow is horrific. When we say that they want to eradicate LGBTQ people, starting with trans people, this is what that looks like. This is where this leads.
In the United States, the laws keep escalating to this in the modern rainbow scare.

Interesting new findings from the huge 12-year universal basic income experiment in Kenya:
"Given how entrepreneurially minded the recipients are, the researchers found no evidence that any of the payments discouraged work or increased purchases of alcohol... In fact, so many people who used to work for wages instead started businesses that there was less competition for wage work, and overall wages in villages rose as a result."
Tons of entrepreneurship happening as well as higher wages for wage workers!
There are three groups being compared here. One group got a UBI for 2 years, one group got the same amount of money as the monthly 2-year group all at once, and one group is getting the same amount each month as the first group but for 12 years.
Basically, the lump sum group saw mostly better outcomes than the 2-year monthly group. They started even more businesses, but they were a bit more stressed and not as happy. And the 12-year monthly UBI group is the happiest.
"The long-term monthly recipients are happiest of all, and some of that is because they know it’s going to be there for 12 years ... It provides mental health benefits in a stability sense."
The 12-year group is also seeing the best of both worlds, because those who want lump sums are choosing to make that option happen collectively.
"Long-term monthly payments seem to offer the best of all worlds because they enable people to use ROSCAs to generate lump sum payments when they want them. That enables flexibility: People who want monthly payments can get them, and people who need cash upfront can organize with their peers to get that."

i hooked up chatgpt to a furby and I think this may be the start of something bad for humanity
I had a weird thought:
The process of forward diffusion — used to train diffusion models for things like image synthesis — looks a lot like the second law of thermodynamics.
It's probably a coincidence.

Long 🧵on AI art debate. I hope you get through it, as I had to get it out. It brings me so much pain to see artists I know write misinformation to get some Twitter points.
This is huge for the future of entertainment.
