This is an example of how people are willing to bend the standards for their friends. There's zero chance that if someone progressives despise, such as Matt Yglesias or Bari Weiss, had been caught calling a powerful black man a racist slur that they would downplay it as a "cultural disconnection."
They would be out for blood.

There is no scenario where referring to a Black man as a “monkey” and an “errand boy” is not racist.
@rulajebreal is a grown-ass woman, and I see a whole lot of excuses being made on her behalf, but what I don’t hear here is an apology.
I can only imagine what is said when the cameras aren’t rolling and the mic is off.
